Mystery Schools In every age and in every country there are always those few individuals who seek more satisfying answers to the great questions of life than they can find in their local churches and temples or through science. If their quest is sincere and they persist, they will eventually be drawn into contact with an entity on the path of the world's Mystery Schools, whereby they may be instructed and trained. There have always been centers, called Mystery Schools, responding to the cry for understanding from aspirants throughout the ages. From within those walls, a secret knowledge called the Ageless Wisdom has been known and used for many centuries in enlightening the spiritual aspirants of each epoch. It is called ageless because it is not susceptible to the mutations of time nor is the Ageless Wisdom primarily a product of man's thinking. It is written by the Gods upon the face of Nature, there for all to read, if they can. Hitherto, the great practical secrets have been guarded carefully from spiritual dilettantes and have only been given to duly initiated men and women under the strictest pledges of secrecy. In the past, this secrecy has been necessary because of the ecclesiastic and legal restrictions upon freedom of thought and worship. Due to changes in the structure and agenda of the powers that be, today such close secrecy is no longer necessary. Much may now be given out openly which formerly could be imparted only in private and by word of mouth. The greatest secrets, however, can never be transmitted by written or spoken word. That secrecy which guards the deepest esoteric knowledge is not imposed by the custodians of Ageless Wisdom, but by human ignorance. It is the kind of secrecy which shrouds the work of great scientists such as Bohr, Curie, Tesla, Edison, and others. This secrecy does not result from any deliberate withholding but rather from a mass ignorance and consequent inability to understand the concepts and reasoning required by advanced science. The Ageless Wisdom can no more be disclosed to untrained men and women than great scientists can explain their theories of the universe to children who are still in kindergarten. The work of these schools is intensely practical. The student is given theoretical knowledge together with experimental work so that he learns both by precept and experience. As he continues to with the process of self-unfolding, he gradually increases mastery of himself, first in small things, then in greater. Only thus is he able to become the leader of men the future of our people demands. II. The White Order of Thule The White Order of Thule (WOT) is not a true Mystery School. It is an esoteric brotherhood working toward the revitalization of the Culture-Soul of the European people. Thule is an ancient Greek word designating the place of origin of the Aryan Race; that soul which was unified in the people of Thule must now be reunited in a new experience of spirituality in order to manifest the next great Aryan Race. Though not an actual Mystery School, the White Order has acquired much of the knowledge of these schools, which themselves do not represent our Cause, so that it may better prepare our movement for the necessities of the future. The esoteric system of the order is that of Western Hermetic-Alchemical tradition, and its teachings have been handed down from adepts to initiates since very ancient times. The work of the White Order of Thule does not bid for your interest on the grounds of mere antiquity, but because it has met the tests of centuries of application. The Mystery Schools were almost wholly lost or infiltrated by the end of the 19th century; it is time the knowledge of our ancestors be once again in the service of its people. However, lest you think that the spiritual attainment possible through following these teachings is to be had in some miraculous manner, the Order declares to you at the outset that your sincerity, your desire, and your willingness to work, will be the sole measure of your accomplishment. The teachings now offered by the White Order were given only to selected students in the past. For you to be successful in our work, your personal goals must correspond to those of the Order: self-transmutation, cultural enlightenment, service to your people, and duty to the higher Order. To only desire personal gain or status is not enough, and surely will result in failure. So we seek those individuals who are well-motivated and will persist in our work and not just skim the surface. The White Order of Thule cannot remake the world. It does offer you the keys to knowledge that will enable us all to do it for ourselves, with the inner help that linkage with a higher reality confers. We propose to help you make conscious contact with the higher self, so that your true spiritual heritage may be realized. III. Objectives There is a fundamental impulse within you to seek understanding, wisdom, true knowledge of yourself, your heritage, nature, and the universe. The Mystery Schools were always repositories of special knowledge that is the key to the realization of all that you seek. It is our objective to place this key in the hands of those who are ready to receive and to act on it. This special knowledge enables you to know yourself and your creative powers, and to make for yourself (ourselves) the kind of world you want to live in. The problems that you face in life are not really obstacles, but like a closed door to a room that holds special knowledge. The Order gives you the key that will unlock the problem doors of your life, and in their opening, your health, power, and the mastery of your life and environment will increase. The practical work of the Order, which includes meditation, imagery, and ritual, initiates a series of subtle but important changes in your inner world, not least of which is an expansion of your conscious awareness. Even a slight increase in this area has a remarkable effect on your mental/emotional capacities. Your intelligence increases and you become more aware of your motivations. You become more observant, which improves your memory. Your ability to anticipate future effects of present causes is enhanced, improving your discrimination in making choices. Objectivity is increased, aiding the ability to think more logically and clearly, which increases control over your environment and helps you define your goals. You cease to regard problems as indications of failure, but as the means to gain new levels of understanding and control that you need in your revolutionary journey. You learn the vital creative relationship between thinking and feeling so that you can use this knowledge to recreate your world. One spiritual imperative that is elaborated in the White Order of Thule is "Man, know thyself, and as thou knowest thyself, thou knowest thy creator." Through the lessons, meditations, and practices of the Order, you are brought to a higher state of consciousness where you can have direct knowledge of the answers of the age-old yet contemporarily crucial questions of the soul, "Who am I? What am I? What am I supposed to be doing?" The process that leads to a direct, experiential knowing of the answers to these questions dissolves the fear of death and establishes an intuitive certainty of the rightness of the path you have chosen. In time, the quality of true culture will begin to dominate your personality's expression – the sign of true brotherhood. Over the ages, hundreds have realized their spiritual goals through exactly this same training so you can depend on its being thoroughly tested and proven. If you faithfully follow the instructions that are sent to all members of this Order, you will find yourself becoming increasingly perceptive to the guidance of the higher self, which is the beginning of the transformational process. The White Order of Thule fully realizes the implications of such assertions and the responsibility incurred in making them, yet they are made deliberately and are intended to be taken literally. IV. Higher States of Consciousness That you may understand what is meant by "a higher state of consciousness," consider the various kingdoms of nature. Each has a progressively wider range of awareness. These different ranges of awareness are clearly defined, from the apparent non-consciousness of minerals through the unconscious life-processes of plants to the first glimmerings of self-consciousness in higher animals. Self-consciousness reaches its fullness in man, and he is able to reason, to formulate speech, to use tools, and to modify his environment deliberately. Higher consciousness goes even beyond self-consciousness. It has been called the consciousness beyond thought – the level of intuition. It is through this level of consciousness that direct knowledge of the answers to life's questions are realized and one's path – past, present, and future – is clearly seen. The White Order of Thule seeks to disclose to all earnest seekers of the Movement the means whereby they may induce a higher state of conscious awareness. This aim is identical with all the great spiritual teachings throughout the ages. All spiritual attainment comes through the expansion of conscious awareness, which is sometimes called an awakening, and in a larger sense – illumination. We must never forget that a folk, although a collective entity with a collective soul, is nevertheless made up of individuals. The greater the conscious awareness of these individuals, the greater the conscious awareness of the the folk. The White Order offers you keys to such expansion and provides you with the necessary training methods and the techniques for its realization. These methods are clearly formulated to help the earnest seeker discover the means whereby higher or expanded states of consciousness may be experienced. Possession of such expanded states of consciousness will unerringly bring us closer to what we want to be and do in the world. Make no mistake – these things are not offered as a replacement for direct activism – but rather as a method for the further empowerment of that activism. Corresponding with the evolution of form upon this planet is the evolution of consciousness. It can be postulated that in the natural course of events, our people will ultimately possess a higher state of consciousness. Almost incomprehensible periods of time elapse, however, before such changes occur in the the slow processes of nature. Yet, our dilemma is one which demands immediate action. Because we operate at severe – almost impossible – disadvantages, we must have an edge in future struggle. Accelerations in physical, mental, and emotional abilities are possible, as man is endowed with special mental and physical faculties which, with proper training, enable him to bring this about much sooner. This spiritual forcing process was the work of the Mystery Schools of our ancestors, and it is to this purpose that our curriculum is structured. V. Curriculum The Western presentation of Ageless Wisdom is composed of what is usually known as the Hermetic arts and sciences. The Hermetic system is named after Hermes Trismegistus, the reported founder of the esoteric tradition of the Western world. Thus, we include spiritual alchemy and archetypal pathworking. Nearly all these esoteric arts and sciences, falling into the hands of materialistic opportunists, have been misused for financial and power-seeking purposes. The high spiritual aim of true alchemy has been perverted by the greed of gold-seekers. The ancient texts have been obscured by those who misinterpret the letter of the teachings set forth therein. Yet, properly instructed students know that these hermetic arts and sciences are by no means deluded imaginings or ignorant superstitions that some persons suppose them to be. On the contrary, they constitute an interlocking system of studies and practices which has served as the foundation of the Western mystery training for many generations, and they are treated as such by the White Order of Thule. The particular potency of this system lies in its use of symbols, which are a universal language that directly instructs subconsciousness with its pictorial wisdom, regardless of language differences. However mysterious and esoteric it may sound, the new student is not plunged into a maze of obscure and complicated teachings. Although the White Order of Thule considers its courses the university level of esoteric teaching and training, the work is taught in easy stages and with practices that are perfectly safe, in a form that any intelligent adult can understand. All members are required to take the same subjects, which provide the necessary foundation for imprinting the principles of the Ageless Wisdom on consciousness. Membership in the White Order of Thule does not require you to relinquish your affiliation with your religion or other organizations. After you become a member, the first lessons are study and experiments in Hermetic psychology. These first lessons lay the foundation of theory and practice on which the superstructure of all subsequent ideas are erected. They include an explanation of the inner nature of what we regard as problems, their cosmic relationship, and their purpose on the path. Through this understanding your daily experience takes on a totally different significance as the thread of True Will is seen. Next is a course in Jungian Psychology, wherein you learn about the purely scientific aspects of our understandings. In these lessons you will learn the significance of the different levels of consciousness, the True Self, instincts, and most importantly, archetypes. When you finish this preliminary work, you will be introduced to specific archetypes. Becoming acquainted with these archetypes in preparation for detailed learning as to their meaning and use constitutes the next period of study. This builds the foundation of an intensely interesting and important phase of White Order work in the foundations of the Culture-Soul. Archetypal pathworking has well been called one of the foremost aids to spiritual and cultural transmutation, as the series of archetypes most commonly used is a record of the inner knowledge of the Western adepts in picture form – the way the wise regard the universe and man in a manner that impresses the consciousness of all who use them. As an instrument of mind training, the archetypes are designed in accordance with basic laws of human psychology. They were originally devised as a means of conveying universal principles regarding man's structure, place, and purpose in the cosmos, through the use of symbols. Symbols are the language of subconsciousness in that they communicate ideas to all individuals, regardless of their native tongue. No matter what our present situation, no matter what your past history, if aspiration is sincere, the right use of archetypes can bring a change for the better in our lives. Lest you misunderstand the "right use" of symbols, we do not refer to their use in fortune-telling or divination. Their right use is in study, meditation, and imagery, for which they were created. Training in the use and meaning of archetypes is the essential foundation from which you can proceed to more advanced courses of study. It will also prepare for you for the spiritual experience which must accompany the coming of a New Aeon. What it Means to be a Member of WOT Membership in the White Order of Thule is not the "membership" Movement adherents are accustomed to. This Order is not trying to be an active entity which will give our people some "bullet or ballot" victory. Therefore, although it has a personality, it does not have an ego, so it encourages its members to be active in other work, other echelons of Aryan life, and other groups. The White Order is a Brotherhood, a loose alignment of Aryan minds, hearts, and souls, together only for the philosophy, fraternity, and spirituality, respectively, which will further all work for the Cause. Membership carries with it absolutely no obligations a true Aryan lifestyle does not already obligate: duty, honor, loyalty. Still, the duty, honor and loyalty expected by the Order is that towards our people and its struggle, not Order leadership or authority. The only specific requirements of the White Order are those related to proper respect, use, handling, and conveyance of Order concepts and materials. Does this mean that membership in the White Order of Thule is easy? Not at all. The Order is compelled by the necessities of our Movement and our people to balance two factors: the need for above-average activists to learn, grow, and associate with intelligent and cultural like-minded individuals; and the need for the Order to maintain a very high standard. To ensure both obligations to the Cause are met, the Order accepts all sincere Aryans of high aptitude as Associate Members. These members receive our external publication Crossing the Abyss and the Membership Manual, and are issued Degrees of Membership. To complete these degrees requires a thorough understanding of all fundamental elements of our race/people, culture, spirituality, history, folk-tradition, etc. These degrees are completed at the pace the Associate Member sets for himself. Upon adequate satisfaction of the Three Degrees of Membership, an Associate Member is asked to join the Order as a Full Member, at which time he can get involved in other Order work, and he begins free courses in Practical Occultism, Jungian Psychology, Archetypal Pathworking, and more. These are not evaluated lessons, but are offered to assist each person in that work to which he or she feels called. The Magnum Opus is calling you! FOREWORD THIS BOOK is different from other books. First of all, it is only in form a book at all. In reality, it is a part of the life of action. It is a turning-point in European history, a late turning point, but a real one. There is nothing original in the content of this book, the book itself only is original. Either Europe will become totally integrated, or it will pass entirely out of history, its peoples will be dispersed, its efforts and brains will be at the disposal forever of extra-European forces. The most magnificent example of this is furnished by Indian morality, sanctioned as religion in the form of "the law of Manu." Here the task set is to breed no less than four races at once: one priestly, one warlike, one for trade and agriculture, and finally a race of servants, the Sudras. Obviously, we are here no longer among animal tamers: a kind of man that is a hundred times milder and more reasonable is the condition for even conceiving such a plan of breeding. One heaves a sigh of relief at leaving the Christian atmosphere of disease and dungeons for this healthier, higher, and wider world. How wretched is the New Testament compared to Manu, how foul it smells! Yet this organization too found it necessary to be terrible--this time not in the struggle with beasts, but with their counter-concept, the unbred man, the mishmash man, the chandala. And again it had no other means for keeping him from being dangerous, for making him weak, than to make him sick--it was the fight with the "great number." Perhaps there is nothing that contradicts our feeling more than these protective measures of Indian morality. The third edict, for example (Avadana-Sastra I), "on impure vegetables," ordains that the only nourishment permitted to the chandala shall be garlic and onions, seeing that the holy scripture prohibits giving them grain or fruit with grains, or water or fire. The same edict orders that the water they need may not be taken from rivers or wells, nor from ponds, but only from the approaches to swamps and from holes made by the footsteps of animals. They are also prohibited from washing their laundry and from washing themselves, since the water they are conceded as an act of grace may be used only to quench thirst. Finally, a prohibition that Sudra women may not assist chandala women in childbirth, and a prohibition that the latter may not assist each other in this condition. The success of such sanitary police measures was inevitable: murderous epidemics, ghastly venereal diseases, and thereupon again "the law of the knife," ordaining circumcision for male children and the removal of the internal labia for female children. Manu himself says: "The chandalas are the fruit of adultery, incest, and crime (these, the necessary consequences of the concept of breeding). For clothing they shall have only rags from corpses; for dishes, broken pots; for adornment, old iron; for divine services, only evil spirits. They shall wander without rest from place to place. They are prohibited from writing from left to right, and from using the right hand in writing: the use of the right hand and of from-left-to-right is reserved for the virtuous, for the people of race." 4 These regulations are instructive enough: here we encounter for once Aryan humanity, quite pure, quite primordial--we learn that the concept of "pure blood" is the opposite of a harmless concept. On the other hand, it becomes clear in which people the hatred, the chandala hatred, against this "humaneness" has eternalized itself, where it has become religion, where it has become genius. Seen in this perspective, the Gospels represent a document of prime importance; even more, the Book of Enoch. Christianity, sprung from Jewish roots and comprehensible only as a growth on this soil, represents the counter-movement to any morality of breeding, of race, privilege: it is the anti-Aryan religion par excellence. Christianity--the revaluation of all Aryan values, the victory of chandala values, the gospel preached to the poor and base, the general revolt of all the downtrodden, the wretched, the failures, the less favored, against "race": the undying chandala hatred as the religion of love. 5 The morality of breeding, and the morality of taming, are, in the means they use, entirely worthy of each other: we may proclaim it as the supreme principle that, to make morality, one must have the unconditional will to its opposite. The chief duty of every new age is to upraise new men to determine its liberties, to lead it towards material success - to rend the rusty padlocks and chains of dead customs that always prevent healthy expansion. Theories and ideals and constitutions that have meant life, hope and freedom for our ancestors may mean destruction, slavery, and dishonor to us. As environments change, no human ideal standeth sure. Whenever, therefore, a lie has built unto itself a throne, let it be assailed without pity and without regret; for under the dominance of a inconvenient falsehood, no nation can permanently prosper. Let established sophisms be dethroned, rooted out, burnt, and destroyed -- for they are a standing menace to all true nobility of thought and action. Whatever alleged "truth" is proven by results to be but an empty fiction, let it be unceremoniously flung into the outer darkness, among the dead gods, dead empires, dead philosophies and other useless lumber and wreckage. The most dangerous of all enthroned lies, is the holy, the sanctified the privileged lie -- the lie that everyone believes to be a model truth. It is the fruitful mother of all other popular errors and delusions. It is hydra-headed. It has a thousand roots. It is a social cancer. The lie that is known to be a lie is half-eradicated. But the lie that even intelligent persons regard as a sacred fact -- the lie that has been inculcated around a mother's knee -- is more dangerous to contend against than a creeping pestilence. Popular lies have ever been the most potent enemies of personal liberty. There is only one way to deal with them: Cut them out, to the very core, just as cancers are. Exterminate them root and branch, or they will surely eat us all up. Annihilate them, or they will us. Half and half remedies are of no avail. However, when a lie has gone too far -- when it has taken up its abode in the very tissue, bones, and brains, of a people, then all remedies are useless. Even the lancet is of no avail. Repentance of past misdeeds cannot "save" decadents from extermination. The fatal bolt is shot, and into the fiery furnace of wholesome slavery they must go, to be there righteously consumed. From their ashes something new, something nobler, may possibly evolve; but even that is the merest optimistic supposition. In nature the wages of sin are always DEATH. Nature does not love the wrong doer, but endeavors in every way to destroy him. Her curse is on the brow of the "meek and lowly". Her blessing is on the very heart's blood of the strong and the brave. Only Jews and Christs and other degenerates think that rejuvenation can ever come through law and prayer. "All the tears of the martyrs" might just as well have never have been shed. III. "Love one another", you say, is this the supreme law. But what power has made it so? Upon what rational authority does the gospel of love rest? Is it even possible of practice, and what would result from its universal application to active affairs? Why should I not hate mine enemies and hunt them down like the wild beasts they are? If I "love" them, does that not place me at their mercy? Is it natural for enemies to "do good" unto each other? And what is "good"? Can the torn and bloody victim "love" the blood-splashed jaws that rend him limb from limb? Are we not all predatory animals by instinct? If humans ceased wholly from preying upon each other, could they continue to exist? "Love your enemies and do good to them that hate you and dispitefully use you" is the despicable philosophy of the spaniel that rolls upon its back when kicked. Obey it, O reader, and you and your posterity to the tenth generation shall be irretrievably and literally damned. They shall be hewers of wood and carriers of water: degenerates, Gibeonites. But hate your enemies with a whole heart. If a man smite you on one cheek, smash him down! Smite him hip and thigh for self-preservation is the highest law. He who turns the other cheek is a cowardly dog -- a Christian dog. Give him blow for blow, scorn for scorn, doom for doom -- with compound interest liberally added thereunto! If there had been no wars, no rivalry, no competition, no kingship, no slavery, no survival of the toughest, no racial extermination, truly what a festering "hell fenced in" this old globe would be! IV. If this struggle is ordained of us, why not enter into it with kindly courage, with dauntless delight? Why not go forward daring all things, to conquer or to die? Is it not better to perish than to serve? "Liberty or Death" is not a meaningless phrase. No, it is of tremendous import to those who comprehend. What is death that it should make cowards of us all? Dualism states that there is a battle being fought in both the spiritual and earthly realms (and even within every individual) between two opposites, "good and evil." Not only has this Dualism subverted our Culture, it has turned the individual into a split personality: this is the result of repressing what is considered 'evil' about one's nature by moral and religious dogmas. Cycles of Time Before this dualism was implanted, pagan societies didn't label natural forces with such absolute moral attributes. There were creative and destructive forces in Nature, often symbolized as gods. But even the destructive aspects had creative purposes, and were part of a transcendent cosmic unity. For example, in what moral context can we place Indo-Aryan deities such as Shiva and Kali? To the Western dualized mind they would be considered 'evil' because of their primal destructiveness. But to the Hindus, retaining the ancient Aryan wisdom, they were 'beyond good and evil.' They comprise both the creative and destructive aspects of Nature in their various forms and roles. Even their destructive roles are a vital part of a cosmic cyclical process of CREATION-DESTRUCTION-RENEWAL: Shiva in his Cosmic Dance of Destruction clears the way for another round of history's ancient Cycles. Ragnarök The Germans and Norse, like their Indo-Aryan kinsfolk, also had this cyclical cosmology. The destruction brought by Ragnarök is the prelude to a new Earth, new humanity, new heaven, and even a new pantheon of gods. The gods themselves cannot avoid their Fate, for without the destruction by Ragnarök there would be stagnation and decay. The dark forces of Loki, Fenrir, Surt, Garm, and Iormungandr are catalysts for Change; thus the cycle continues: creation-destruction-renewal. This is the inexorable process that can be observed in both History and Nature. The Aryan Persians before Zoroastrianism had a conception of interplay between the Light and Dark forces which were seen as two aspects of Zervan, Lord of Time—the Light of Ahura Mazda and the Dark of Ahriman were both emanations of Zervan. Zoroastrianism divided these two into moral opposites separated from the Time Lord. It is from here that Judaism and ultimately Christianity got their dualism, which has afflicted the West. Some of the Gnostic sects rejected Dualism and restored the ancient wisdom in the deity Abraxas, who united all polarities within himself. The psychologist Carl Jung turned to Abraxas when considering the interrelationship that exists between polarities in Nature. Individuation Jung revived the ancient wisdom with modem scientific methods and terms, but drawing much from pre- and non- Christian cultures and Medieval Alchemy. He sought to unify the polarities within the individual to create the whole person (called 'individuation') no longer cut off from his repressed so-called 'evil' shadow self. This 'individuation' of Jungian psychology is also akin to the occultists' quest for adeptship. Jung was concerned with how a neurotic Christian civilization could be brought back to the completeness of pagan times. He saw the need to allow the repressed barbarian lurking within modem man to resurface and find a modem expression—thus his support for National Socialist Germany as an expression of the repressed Shadow Self of the Germans, symbolized as Wotan. Christianized Neopagans Judeo-Christian moral dualism is now so deep-seated within the Western psyche that even those Pagans who think they are outside the Christian context are as dualized as any Christling. These "Neopagans" (sic) have made internationalists and pacifists out of tribal war gods! Where warrior attributes cannot be ignored, they have been transformed into "the way of the peaceful warrior" (puke!).Tyr, Thor, and Odin have been castrated. The 'neopagans' have simply made the Old Gods reflections of their own dualized half-selves. They have repressed as 'evil' the Dark aspects. These 'neopagans' are worse than useless; they are another aspect of the dualism that is driving the European folk to self-destruction. Even many (most?) of the harder-line 'Odinists' have a cosmology that is essentially Christian. They have dualized the Aesir and the Jotuns into contending moral forces of "good vs. evil." Odin (or Baldur) is their Jesus. Loki is their Satan. Ragnarök is their Armageddon. The whole significance of Indo-European cyclical cosmology has been rendered null and void. The Pagan heritage has been dualized... Christianized! There are some Pagans, however, who continue to honor the ancient wisdom. The land has a mystical quality to which the Folk is rooted by ties of Family--of Blood--for generation upon generation. This is the meaning of that misunderstood and slandered concept Blood & Soil. The Village emerges to fill the social and economic needs of an expanding rural population, to both sell produce and facilitate social communication. This is the beginnings of a culture. As the Culture gives way to Civilization, the symbols are no longer the land and its Family/Blood rootedness, nor the Village; but the Town becoming City, and ultimately (at the last, 'Winter' phase of a Civilization) the Megalopolis, drawing the rural population into its embrace, submerging the citydweller into a nebulous, alienated mass of proletarians and merchants without ties of land or blood and with at most a precarious notion of family. Above it all stand the new lords and masters: the Bankers, with their democratic political demagogues. The philosopher-historian Oswald Spengler writes of this disintegration in The Decline of The West: "The megalopolis - skeptical, practical, artificial - alone represents Civilization today. The soil-peasantry before its gates does not count. The 'People' means the city-people, an inorganic mass, something fluctuating." THE ROOTEDNESS OF THE PEASANTRY The peasant/farmer is rooted to the soil in a numinous, mystical manner. His land provides him with more than food or an income; it is here that the generations of his family live and die, where their sweat, blood and tears and laughter consecrate the earth in the most personal way. Where is there such connectedness to one's environment in the City, where all is in a state of flux and transience: where impersonality is supreme. Spengler continues: "He who digs and ploughs is seeking not to plunder, but to alter Nature. To plant implies not to take something, but to produce something. BUT WITH THIS, MAN HIMSELF BECOMES PLANT--namely, as peasant. He roots in the earth that he tends, the soul of man discovers a soul in the countryside, and a new earthboundness of being, a new feeling pronounces itself. Hostile Nature becomes the friend, earth becomes MOTHER Earth. Between sowing and begetting, harvest and death, and child and the grain, a profound affinity is set up..." The symbol of this youthful Culture, this 'Springtime' is the farmhouse, "The great symbol of settledness... It is PROPERTY in the most sacred sense of the word." It is the Civilization in its Late or "Winter" phase with the City and the citydweller :dominant that has man returning to a spiritually nomadic, rootless condition. He is no longer settled; there are no real, deep - inner - ties to property in the profound sense, not even among those who own their city dwellings. The City epitomized by the Megalopolis in Late Civilization (for ancient Rome and modern New York, London or Paris) draws the races of the world to it; no longer only the rural population of its own Folk. The Megalopolis is bloodless, money-based, desiring capital and labor regardless of the racial and cultural sources. The great melting-pot is upheld as the ideal. America symbolizes perfectly the Western Civilization's Late phase, and whoever seeks to predict the future of his own society needs only to look first at what unfolds in America. URBAN DRIFT/URBAN SPRAWL One of the most transparent signs of the crisis of the Western Civilization is both the depopulation of the countryside and urban sprawl. In New Zealand a majority was still rural until 1906 at about 52%. By 1945 about a quarter of the population was still rural. However by 1980 the proportion had shrunk to 15% where it stands today. By 1990 68% lived in "main urban areas" defined as cities of at least 30,000 (NZ Official Yearbook 1995). Simultaneously, urban centres are increasingly encroaching on surrounding countryside. Houses spring up on former farmland, even bordering wildlife reserves. REBIRTH This is the inexorable process of a Civilization in decay. It follows the same phases as other Civilizations such as Rome, as Spengler showed. However, Western Man has the advantage of historical perspective, of an historical sense more finely tuned than any other Civilization. He can look back ore the past, on the Cycles of Civilization, and see the whence of his doing. He has an historical conscious that separates him from those of other Civilizations in a manner similar to the way humans are separated from other animals by their self-conscious. THE QUESTION REMAINS WHETHER THERE ARE SUFFICIENT NUMBERS WITH THE WILL AND THE SPIRITUAL ESSENCE LEFT NOT ONLY TO LEARN FROM THE PAST BUT TO PUT THOSE LESSONS INTO EFFECT BY FIGHTING FOR A REBIRTH OF THE WESTERN SOUL. The tragedy is that those who did try to fight for a spiritual rebirth were defeated in 1945 and many of them were killed. It could well be this was the last chance we had; a tragedy from which we might not recover. Nevertheless any revival of the European spirit MUST proceed from the concept of Blood & Soil. It must also take account of how the traditional and spiritual attributes of the European can be synthesized with our science and technology which are themselves products of the European soul: of that yearning for knowledge and exploration Spengler referred to as "Faustian." Indeed since science itself is but an unfolding of the laws of Nature, it seems logical that science and technology should work FOR the spirit of Blood & Soil, and not as they are now doing AGAINST. The problem is not with technology itself, or the unique Faustian soul that gives it shape; it is with the manner by which it is utilized to ravage Nature and dehumanize Man for the benefit of industrial capitalism and the small coteries of plutocrats who control it. The elimination of plutocracy is therefore a prerequisite for the rebirth of our Folk and Culture. NS GERMANY : AN EXPERIMENT IN WESTERN REBIRTH NS-Germany was the only major modern effort to address the decline of the Western Civilization, and to attempt an answer to the question of how to maintain a progressive, technological State yet return the Folk to the "Springtime" of its youth. Whatever mistakes, atrocities or excesses be attached to the NS experiment, the crisis of our time requires that we look at that experiment dispassionately to see what lessons might be learned from both its mistakes and successes. For the NS Reich was a conscious effort to return our Folk to the peasant values which alone can give health to our culture. Dr. Anna Bramwell of Oxford has undertaken such an objective examination in her study of the Reich Peasant Leader and Minister of Agriculture, Walther Darre. (Blood & Soil: Walther Darre & Hitler's Green Party, Kensal Press, Britain, 1985). Dr. Bramwell shows that Darre was a major pioneer of today's ecological movement, and that many of his ideas filtered through to that movement. From 1934 he launched an organic farming programme. After the war he continued to write about problems of soil erosion, the dangers of artificial fertilizers, and the need to maintain biomass, until his death in 1953. The real Germany was for Darre and his supporters within the National Socialist party not the Germany of merchants, feudal lords, cardinals, of Teutonic Knights bringing the mercantile spirit back from their Crusades in the Levant. It was the Germany of the peasant, and of the Peasant Revolt of 1525 which had sought to replace Roman, feudal law with a return to the old, customary German law under which they had been free. Darre adopted certain of the views of Rudolf Steiner despite the latter's opposition to NS. He opposed the industrialization of the farmer, artificial fertilizer, mass-produced grain, and insecticides. Goslar, a medieval town, became a new peasant capital, which Darre envisaged as the center for the formation of a Northern European peasant community. Festivals and farmers' rallies were held here. Conferences on Blood & Soil were attended by representatives of Norwegian and Danish peasant movements. Practical measures included large-scale land reclamation and harvest work undertaken by the youth of the Labor Service,where all classes of the young worked together. By the end of 1934 over half a million children from the cities and industrial areas had been sent on holidays to the country through State health programs. "They saw, often for the first time, cattle grazing in the meadows, they felt the charm of the countryside, of the mountains, lakes and the sea. They had the unique experience of coming into contact with the customs of the peasantry, rural customs and festivities and with the peaceful charm of Nature, in contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life. Above all, it was the work of the farmer that turned out most impressive to the mind of the city child. The spirit of the city child struck roots, as it were, once again in the soil of its forefathers..." (Werner Reher, Social Welfare in Germany, Berlin, 1938). The manner by which a progressive State could adjust itself to ecological need was expressed for e.g. in the huge autobahns that were constructed to be "embedded in the landscape organically," under the direction of landscape architect and passionate ecologist Alwin Seifert. Only local materials were used in the construction. Under NS the principal demands of the 1525 Peasant Revolt were at last fulfilled, returning old German law which assured the security of the peasant on his land against death, duty and foreclosure. The Reich Agricultural Estate was founded as a self-governing corporation, after the manner of the corporations the peasants had prior to feudalism. The Estate was enacted in 1933 to combine all Germans associated with agriculture, from farmer to wholesaler and retailer of produce. As in the old guilds, the Estate ensured both the quality of the products and the social, economic and cultural welfare of its members. The Estate was divided into regional, district and local associations to account for local conditions and custom. It ensured both the production and marketing of produce in a national economic plan. The basis of the peasant revival was the Hereditary Farms Act. "The law takes the farm as a living cell in the folk organism." The law ensured that indebtedness was reduced, and that farmland could not be confiscated. The law "takes fields, farm homesteads and cattle as a natural unit in the center of which stands the farmer himself. The union is regarded as a permanent one. Therefore the farm shall remain to the descendants or relatives as an inheritance in the hands of free German peasants." Hereditary farms were defined as those no larger than 300 acres and capable of supporting a family of several children, so that "as large a number as possible of medium and small farms shall be spread over the whole country." An Act of June 1, 1933, in seeking to reduce farm debt and protect the farmer, ensured repayment would be from the yield without endangering the farmer's livelihood. Property could not be confiscated by creditors, nor auctioned. (Erich Schinnerer, German Law & Legislation, Berlin 1938). SOME PROPOSITIONS The revitalization of the European spirit and of Pan-Europa necessarily means a return to rustic, Heathen values and institutions, those that are organic above and beyond the artificiality and rootlessness of Late Civilization and its City basis. The NS experiment provides ample lessons, as do the insights of both Rudolf Steiner and the ecological movement. However, as we've shown, the prerequisite for our revival is the demolition of plutocracy and the debt-banking system upon which it rests. Again, this requires a return to custom, to tradition which in the field of economics means BARTER. In a modern context this barter would take the form of credit and money issued as a non-usurious means of exchanging goods and services; not as at present as an interest-bearing debt for the profit of a few plutocrats. It means the socialization of banking. Details of such monetary reform are outside the scope of this study; suffice it to say that with usury-free people's credit agriculture, and indeed all honest, productive work, would benefit; debt and tax would be enormously reduced. It is here pertinent to comment that NZ was established on debt by plutocrats and speculators, who charged an exorbitant 10% to 15% interest on loans for small holdings during the 1850's. Today interest on rural debt accounts for the LARGEST single item of farm expenditure. An e.g. of how modern technology and a rustic revival can not only co-exist but act as mutual stimuli is the potential for ethanol as a fuel that is non-toxic to the point of being drinkable and has no pollutants. Ethanol is produced from a large variety of vegetation. The cultivation of such crops for ethanol production would alone provide a huge incentive for rural expansion. Like the Reich Agricultural Estate and the Labor Front of NS Germany, new forms of representation are needed to replace the old liberal parliaments that merely act as a facade for plutocracy. Occupational and professional franchise can replace the election of party candidates as a more direct and competent form of representation. Such elections could easily be undertaken via the unions and professional organizations, which themselves could be reformed as Guilds and Corporations in the Medieval manner, not only representing their members at national and local assemblies, but also being responsible for their social, economic and cultural welfare and education. Once again, a detailed examination of the mechanism of the Corporate State is beyond the scope of this paper. Cheap, efficient public transport could be developed as the alternative to cars, and certainly there should be frequent "car-free" days, and perhaps a limitation on the number of cars per family. No doubt at first the necessity to walk to one's local shop up the street instead of driving would be a great inconvenience and burden to some! Parks, reserves and gardens need to be developed on a large scale and within urban areas. There must be limits on the rush to build houses on every piece of available land; and certainly - if only for aesthetic reasons - a house should not be constructed within sight of a wildlife reserve! There should be an end to multilayered apartment buildings, whether public or private, and all dwellings should have at least minimal land for cultivation. All primary and secondary schools should have a significant portion of property devoted to cultivating vegetables, such work being part of every student's curriculum, and the products themselves being consumed for school lunches. The rustic spirit that lurks repressed within the European Folk can again be raised to consciousness by the celebration of the Seasons, National and local festivals, agricultural fairs, and mobile rural exhibitions as features of the life of every city and town. Excursions between rural and urban areas should be regular features in the education of youth, including extended visits on farms... A Youth Service should be established where the sons of all classes work side-by-side, and this should certainly include the establishment of Youth Camps in rural areas, and regular farmwork. Our artists and musicians might lend their creativity to this spiritual rebirth by celebrating the numinosity of Blood & Soil, Folk & Land in their art, and should be patronized by the State and guilds to do so. Exploring Satanism as a Viable Revolutionary Movement by Max Frith, White Order of Thule, published in Crossing the Abyss #3 We of the White Order of Thule do hereby wish it known that, whilst we emphasize the "higher," numinous and luminous aspects of existence and spirituality through the change of appellations of both our organization and its official journal at the close of 1996 (from the Black Order to the White Order of Thule, and from The Abyss to Crossing the Abyss, respectively—see issue #2 of Crossing the Abyss), we nevertheless acknowledge the importance, nay, necessity, of giving voice and expression to the "sinister," or darkside of our nature. It would not behoove us to do otherwise; the modern paradigm is plenty proof of the ill-effects such repression produces. While this is an overtly and explicitly "christian" Western world no longer, the case is still as Nietzsche pointed out more than a century ago: in discarding the outward trappings of the Judeo-Nazarene taint, we still have adhered more or less rigidly to the morality implicit in the mentality. If it is true that, as Nietzsche put it, Christianity is a slave-religion, is it not still the official religion of the state? Most have simply replaced the empty dogma of the church with the equally vapid surrogates of egalitarianism, pacifism, and consumerism. The point is, where "goodness" means "weakness," strength must be seen as evil. It is as evil, then, that we, as ostensibly embodying the power, the strength, the nobility of our promise as a people, must appear to the huddled masses. Should "We Good Europeans," as harbingers and heralds of a New Aeon "for troth with the Old Gods and resurgence of the Tribes," exclude from our ranks those who would profess loyalty to "Satan," the one true archetype of defiance and rebellion that this dying old Aeon has given us? Was it not Hitler himself who identified our enemy's enemy as our greatest friend? While we do not profess to be a "satanic" or "sinister" Order, we have previously acknowledged the dutiful place of what we call the "Black Order," that is, the negative, destructive impulse and the ceremonies, rituals, and imagery deriving therefrom (q.v. "What is a White Order?" in Crossing the Abyss #2). In officially acknowledging and legitimizing the "shadow," or sinister side of ourselves, for ourselves, in such an open and public forum, we should therefore faithfully follow through and permit the darkside's expression within our own ranks. We, though ultimately deriving our essence from the light that casts the shadow, are nevertheless not sanctimonious! Within a specifically Judeo-Christian context, Satan is arguably the most potent and negatively-charged archetype. Would it not benefit us to tap into the energy latent in such a symbolically, and therefore potentially, destructive symbol in order to aid the natural process that is birthing the New on the ashes of the Old? "That which is falling should also be pushed. That which is crawling should also be crushed," wrote Nietzsche. Indeed, many have credited Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible with giving practical expression to the thoughts of Nietzsche, and let's face it, more White youth are likely to read that than Mein Kampf under the current social climate. Pragmatically speaking, "tapping into a symbol" could be taken as meaning drawing from the ranks of those who avow allegiance to that symbol. In keeping with their neo-primal creed, many Satanists are in possession of relatively unimpaired instincts (read: racially conscious), and could therefore identify with the cause of the realization of the new Aeon, as we manifest it. Some already do, as is evidenced by some (only some) LaVeyan Satanists in their forum The Black Flame (for a good example see "The Faustian Nature of Fascism" in Vol. 5 #1 and 2), but is even more evident in publications from a group hailing from England called the "Order of Nine Angles," who are peripherally associated with the racialist Order of the Jarls of Bælder. Lastly, in order to properly understand the significance of the Judeo-Christian image, we, as properly standing outside of the current, dying cosmogony, turn to a pagan image. The Norse trickster god Loki, though not the archetype of "evil" in the same sense as Satan ("evil" being specific to dualist paradigms), is nevertheless similarly a revolutionary archetype, challenging the status quo and upsetting the sensibilities of the ruling element, the Æsir. Indeed it is Loki who helps to engineer the fateful conclusion to Ragnarök, aiding Surt and his giants toward the Æsir's downfall, in effect to usher in the New Aeon wherein an even mightier race of gods shall grow and prosper, and thus does the wheel turn again. Jung and the Volkisch Movement By Kerry Bolton Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961), in founding Analytical Psychology did so as a break and a contradistinction from the psychological school of his mentor Sigmund Freud. The Jungian and the Freudian stand as the contrasts between the Germanic and the Jewish world-views in the realm of psychology. Indeed it has been suggested that Freud's observations were largely derived from mainly Jewish patients. Jung commented: "... It is a quite unpardonable mistake to accept the conclusions of a Jewish psychology as generally valid." The Jewish spirit that infuses Freudianism has been remarked upon by others qualified to speak, both Jew and Gentile. The Jewish historian Howard Sachar considered the chief motivation of the Jewish Freudians to be, "the unconscious desire of Jews to unmask the respectability of European society which closed them out... The B'nai B'rith Lodge of Vienna for example delighted in listening to Freud air his theories." (Sachar, The Course of Modern Jewish History). Thomas Szasz, professor of psychology, State University, NY, wrote of Freud's "anti-Gentilism" as being "an important aspect of his personality and predilections." Collective Unconscious Jung gave science an important contribution with his theory that there is not only an individual unconscious but also a collective unconscious, including a racial or ethnic unconscious impacting significantly upon the individual and determining his very Being and Identity. It was a scientific development and elaboration of the concept held by Germanic philosophers such as Herder, postulating that each people, or nation, has its own "soul." Jung stated: "No doubt on an earlier and deeper level of psychic development, where it is still impossible to distinguish between an Aryan, Semitic, Hamitic, or Mongolian mentality, all human races have a common collective psyche. But with the beginning of racial differentiation, essential differences are developed in the collective psyche as well." Jung indicated what this means in practical terms, as for example when politicians and religious dogmatists try to impose a multi-racial society. Jung wrote: "For this reason we cannot transplant the spirit of a foreign race in globo into our own mentality without sensible injury to the latter, a fact which does not however deter sundry natures of feeble instinct from affecting Indian philosophy and the like." The Shadow Another major contribution from Jung was his theory of individuation, or the Total Being brought into effect by integrating one's repressed unconscious into the conscious Self. To this process which is central to Jungian therapy Jung applied the German word Heilsweg, the "sacred way" of healing. On his way towards individuation one confronts the repressed unconscious or Dark side of oneSelf referred to by Jung as The Shadow Self. In keeping with Jung's theme of the collective unconscious, not only the individual but an entire nation or ethnos possess its own unique collective 'Shadow.' This is what Jung addressed to the Germanic nation when he wrote, We cannot possibly get beyond our present level of culture unless we receive a powerful impetus from our primitive roots. But we shall receive it only if we go back behind our cultural level, thus giving the suppressed primitive man in ourselves a chance to develop. How this is to be done is a problem I have been trying to solve for years... The existing edifice is rotten. We need some new foundations. We must dig down to the primitive in us, for only out of the conflict between civilized man and the Germanic barbarian will there come what we need; a new experience of God... Völkisch Movement Jung saw the primitive or Shadow of the Germanic folk repressed by a millennium of Christian moral bondage. When what is natural to an individual or an entire folk is repressed it will out eventually in some form or another. It was Jung's concern that the Germanic Shadow be brought to consciousness with the result of a collective individuation of the whole folk. He had stated in 1919, the very year Hitler joined the newly formed German Workers Party: "As the Christian view of the world loses its authority, the more menacingly will the 'blond beast' be heard prowling about in its underground prison, ready at any moment to burst out with devastating consequences." Jung's desire to see the Germanic folk individuate brought him into contact with the energetic volkisch movements that had emerged during the late 19th century and were ever more determined with the humiliation of Germany and Austria following World War I. Likewise, these movements saw the compatibility of Jungian psychology with their own ideology. One of the volkisch theorists was Jacob Hauer, founder of the Nordic Faith Movement. He became involved with Jungian conferences and associations during the 1930's. In 1934 he gave a lecture on number symbolism which had a great influence on Jung, and during the course of the same lecture Hauer used Jung's concept of the collective unconscious to suggest the existence of a racial unconscious with racial symbolism. The year previously the National Socialists had assumed power, an Jung wrote his essay Wotan, stating that the NS Reich was summoning forth the repressed Shadow or Wotanic unconscious of Germany. In 1936 he wrote: "The depths of Wotan's character explain more of National Socialism than all the economic, political and psychological factors put together." With rivalry for spiritual allegiance in NS Germany between the so-called "German Christians" who had Aryanized Jesus, and the pagan, anti-Christian volkisch movement, Jung expressly condemned the former and urged Germans to throw their whole support behind Hauer's movement to bring forth that "new experience of God," of Wotan. He described Hauer as "god (i.e. Wotan) possessed," and Hauer's activities as "the tragic and really heroic efforts of a conscientious scholar." To Jung the Old Religion was very much alive, albeit underground and waiting to resurface. He wrote: No, memories of the old German religion have not been extinguished. They say there are greybeards in Westphalia who still know where the old images of the gods lie hidden; on their death beds they tell their youngest grandchild, who carries the secret... In Westphalia, the former Saxony, not everything that lies buried is dead. In our present time, with the European soul buried beneath excessive materialism and superficiality, and the dying, putrescent vestiges of a thousand years of Judeo-Christian spiritual repression, Jung provides an insight whereby the European folk as a collectivity might find its way back to a sense of being. As that great exponent of European Being, the existentialist philosopher and supporter of National Socialism, Martin Heidegger himself has written: The past of human existence as a whole is not a nothing, but that to which we always return when we have put down deep roots. But this return is not a passive acceptance of what has been, but its transmutation. Long Live Death! By Peter Georgacarakos Among the European pantheons, there are two fairly well known mythological tales of destruction and renewal. In the Norse myth of Ragnarök, a conflict ensues between the "light" and "dark' gods. All is destroyed, including the gods on both sides, and Baldur, the Son of Odin, re-emerges to lead in the rebuilding of a new world. There is also the Greek myth of the Phoenix, a great bird which lives for a certain period of time, then builds its own funeral pyre and flaps its wings to ignite the flames. With its great wings, the Phoenix purposefully fans the fires of its own destruction. When the fire has burned out, a new Phoenix, mightier than the old, emerges from the ashes. It seems the biggest difference in these similar myths is the agent of destruction. Baldur is slain, essentially, by the trickster god Loki, while the Phoenix destroys itself. Ragnarök can be seen to represent the workings of polarized forces in the eternal cycle of life-death-renewal. This cycle governs civilizations. The Phoenix, however, with its lack of interacting forces, seems to encompass the self-generation of the forces of life-death-renewal in ourselves. These are the forces of self-overcoming. This aspect of life is very important to our movement. Self-overcoming is a painful yet necessary experience. We have all endured many trying events in our lives - lost love, lost lives, failure, even the transition from childhood to adolescence, and adolescence to adulthood. These are everyday human manifestations of the rise of the Phoenix - in each endeavor, part of us is lost, yet we emerge stronger than before. The greatest significance of the Phoenix is that its life-death-renewal process is eternal, and therefore its greatness infinite. What does the Phoenix represent to us now, as members of a revolutionary movement? If we take an honest moment to consider the movement, we will recognize many "Phoenixes" which plainly refuse to overcome, to build the funeral pyre of their unsuccessful paths, their once good but now stale stances, their outdated regalia. The flames of that fire are indeed difficult to bear, especially when they consume, by our own will, the work of years, sometimes of a lifetime. Yet the Phoenix, true to its cause, dutifully builds its pyre, ignites the flame, and fans the fire of self-destruction with an eye to the future - to the re-emergence of something more noble than what is lost. The newborn greatness is worth the painful fire. When this natural process is forsaken, stagnation and decay settle in. We see this in our society; we must now see this in our movement. It seems obvious that when the duty to carry on the eternal saga of the Phoenix is disregarded, the destruction necessary to allow the renewal process to continue will come eventually, via Ragnarök, and inevitable destruction from without. How many of us have looked forward with eager eyes for the advent of Ragnarök, while we did not even deal adequately with the cycles of our own existence? Can one who refuses to accept the fires of his own self-overcoming, due to vanity or weakness, really hope to survive the destructive fires of an entire civilization? Many pagans have known and taught the significance of Ragnarök for a long time. It is now time to fully understand the numinous meaning of the Phoenix. How can we demand that civilizations in decay must be destroyed in order that a new, brighter civilization may arise, when we do not adhere to the same cyclical necessities in the lives of men, and of the movement as an organism? The barbarians who crash the gates of the city thereafter crash our front doors! Mythology, it has been said, is something that never was, but always is. Let us heed the wise messages of our great progenitors. We will never forget the majesty of the Acropolis, the enchantment of Homer, the wisdom of Socrates, or the might of the Spartan warrior. Let us likewise never forget the fires of the Phoenix. There is much that is new in our movement, much that is fresh and invigorating. Why does the old, stagnant, proven-ineffective, stand beside it—crowd it—like a vulture beside the shining new Phoenix? We must collectively contemplate our philosophies, our thoughts, our actions, and ensure that each is not fit to be hurled upon the funeral pyre. If we see things that are, let us build the pyre with perseverance and a sense of duty, never forgetting that new heights shall be reached when the fires have died. Let us be willing to sacrifice parts of ourselves, even parts we have come to love and admire, so that greatness, and not custom, carries the torch of the moment. Only thus can we, as a movement, continue to evolve as our environment evolves, and play a principal role in the events of the future. The many temporary deaths we will suffer as the fires of the Phoenix are ablaze are nothing compared to the eternal death, with no possible re-emergence, that our people win suffer if we are not always new, always strong, always prepared to defend. Revolutionary Work: Part 1 By Max Frith Alright, so Crossing the Abyss has said a lot - now what? That's a good question. We don't claim to have all the answers, and if we criticize, it's for claims made but intentionally unfulfilled, not human error. Crossing the Abyss says what it means and means what it says. Because we see a successful movement as a growing, fluctuating, evolving organism, we'll make no claims of grand action, but rather take one positive step at a time. The way we see it, no American organization of the past ever had, nor does one have now, the ability to bring us to the achievement of our goals. Why? Our problems as a people are manifold, our needs as a people are manifold, the actions we must take are manifold, yet our organizations are consistently two-dimensional. Their programs, if they even have any, never really exist off paper. Three-dimensionality kills them. We will never achieve our goals through legal politics - so political parties, political action committees, and mass organization programs will not work. We don't have time to compete for the attention of mass-man--homo consumerus. We will never achieve our goals by simply "riding out" or surviving some future "cataclysmic" event or upheaval. Since our movement, as an entity, presently lacks the dedication and determination to pack up and head northwest, leaving the "comforts" of home for the future of our race, this option is non-existent at this time. When part of the definition of "home" becomes a place where one has a racial identity in the mind of the community, perhaps this will change. This strategy is ranted most, however, because it permits no action now except to wait - oh yes - and to "prepare," which includes weapons training and collecting, learning military techniques of garroting and booby-trapping, and the like--everything but work! But realistically, all such a "cataclysmic" event would cause right now would be martial law, which would lock us down in our present state. We are already divided, and therefore already conquered! We will never, as we exist now, achieve our goals through military action--so the militias, "action groups," and "leaderless resistance" are delusional play-acting. Again, this theory of "get ready and wait" works much like the church and heaven. Where were all these "soldiers" who were "armed and ready" when Ruby Ridge was under siege for eighteen months? How many federal agents were sniped by our "leaderless resistance" guerrillas? How many fed transports were sacked by "covert cells," transports on the way to kill Vicki and Sam Weaver? How many battalions of militia gave combat support when the shit hit the fan? We all know the answer to each of these questions: all the "get ready and wait" types were at home with the shades drawn and the mini-14 under the floorboards, while "ZOG" spent one and a half years in the heartland of the movement. If our movement cannot militarily secure the Idaho panhandle, let us save the embarrassment of hearing these pamphlet warriors rant about full-scale revolution "right around the corner." There are only three comers to turn before you end up where you started! That's where we are now. Shall we take a more productive route, or tip-toe around once more? And all the "race war" theorists--where the hell were they when the first Rodney King verdict came down? The other side showed up full force and we suffered 52 casualties--where was our side? I thought that such an occurrence was all these types were waiting for! When the shit really did hit the fan - a true warfare situation arose - they shut out the lights and played "nobody's home"! And what America-wide race war could have been kicked off by a couple of well-placed sniper bullets just after the 0.J. Simpson verdict? At that time, for the first time in decades, mainstream whites were angry. And what happened? Perhaps the "race war" theorists believed that the gloves really didn't fit?! There was a brief period there awhile back when it did look like things might get going. We had that explosion in Oklahoma City - then the Amtrak derailment in Arizona - then the taking out of the radar station in New York - then nothing! What happened? All this leads to one of two conclusions: One, we really haven't got what it takes as a movement to truly carry on a military revolution; or Two, we're not ready. Now I say we're not ready; if you disagree, you accept number one. If we're not ready, that's nothing to be ashamed of - we've quite a battle before us. But this does mean one thing many don't want to hear - and that is work. We've got lots of work to do. If we are not ready soon, we're going to miss our chance. So... I think we can safely rule out the old "when they come for my gun" and "we're waiting for the right situation" bullshit. You know who you are. You've had your chance. Now do the movement a big favor, do the future of Aryan children a favor: shut up! Twenty years of that bullshit is enough to put any movement to sleep. Let's wake up now! Yes, the truth hurts, but we don't make the truth - we just tell it. So where is our new direction? Believe it or not, a clue to that answer is already the hottest thing this sleepy movement has seen since Siege was published. And, as should have been expected, it's coming from the youth. Hail the eternal occurrence of youth! We can glimpse the future direction of our movement up in Detroit - at Resistance Records. That's right! But it isn't just the music - the answer is inclusive of the music. The word of the day is culture--real culture. For how long have we, as a movement, been preaching about the great culture we're afraid to lose, while we lived almost wholly outside its ultra-positive effects? Now it's here, and fresh on its heels is a cultural resurgence in parts of society also. Resistance and others are putting out some fantastic music and a great magazine, both of which are expanding quickly - and globally. [Editor's note: the preceding was written in 1995, prior to the (perhaps temporary?) shutdown of Resistance.] Culture--there is a magickal energy that just might make us feel what all this "people" stuff really means. It could just take us to the next stage. If all the movement's lethargic dinosaurs would roll over now and back the play of this new real trend, a new resurgence with tons of promise, perhaps we could triple, quadruple - who knows - its exposure and advancement. The movement is now creating something - we've put one and one together and gotten three. Now that, my friends, is the magic of a Folk. Of course, music does not a movement make - not by far - but culture could, and this is the first true cultural resurgence we've had. There is magic in the air - let us fan the Aryan fire, and make sure everyone gets the heat. There are two other areas that could also give us this magickal energy of culture. One of them is spirituality. Our resurrection of Paganism, a true Aryan spirituality, should have given us this cultural elan long ago, but what started out strong mostly ended up being burnt at the Christian stake. That's right: the Christian stake, for most of our American Paganism is as Christian-like as it is dogmatic. The form is there, but the European spirituality is absent. Somewhere between the people who want you to really believe (not in a symbolic way) in a man on a goat-pulled chariot wielding a hammer, and those who have figured the Jews, blacks, and "evil" into Viking mythology, we lost the whole cultural experience. Someday, hopefully very soon, our American Pagan "gurus" will put down the Marvel comics and the Bible and look to our blood homeland - to Europe - where the true spirit of our Pagan heritage has emerged - not "Neo-paganism," but the essence of classical Paganism re-presenced. Then cultural spirituality will infect the New World as deeply as it has the Old, and we will experience a spiritual resurgence equal to the one we are seeing in music. The third cultural magic I speak of is that of the community. The whole significance of a Folk is the unifying spirit that possesses it. This spirit comes from shared blood, shared culture, and shared soil. All three a people make. Common soil is not just an end, it is also a means. There is a magic that circulates when a people occupies a certain land. This magic doesn't operate over vast distances. We know this; it is a fundamental principle of all we stand for. How long have we been decrying our enemies for denying us a homeland, when we could have created our own long ago? Most of the movement has the whole process backwards. First we're supposed to come together and create an area that acts as a homeland, where the magic of culture is vibrating; then we fight to preserve it. Our five states are sitting there with the cheapest land prices in America, while activists are streetfighting in New York City and Los Angeles. Right now we're claiming to fight for something that is there for the taking. Of course, that means work, which isn't as fun or exciting as driving around in uniforms looking for trouble. Of course, if we were all to move to the five states, and really get something going, Big Brother would try to ruin it - of this have no doubt. But then at least we would have something to defend. Right now we're fighting for some abstract idea. Again, the present program is two-dimensional--it only exists on paper. If an outsider were to read our publications and look at our activists, he'd get the impression that there is a guarded wall all the way around our five states. There isn't one single roadblock on the highways that go into Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming--so why are our people dressed up like Nazi stormtroopers in Chicago and Miami, threatening to fight for a white homeland? I'll tell you why. That little game--and that's all it is. a game--is more fun and exciting than being dressed up like a farmer in Oregon, or a mechanic in Idaho, or a rancher in Wyoming. Big Brother has never yet prevented us from having a new homeland, because in order to do that we'd first have to really try to create one! Yes, we need to sit back, collectively take a deep breath, and for once really think about the stages of development we must go through before military action of any sort becomes necessary and feasible. Never get us wrong, we are not pessimistic, and we are for a revolutionary territorial imperative. But most of the revolution will be a peaceful one--in our own minds. Again, the word that is scary to most people is not war, but work--yes, it is going to take a lot of work before we are even on the path towards a homeland. Work is not as glorifying as all that "mercenary" bullshit, but it is more success-oriented, and we owe that genuine attempt at victory to our children, and their children. That last "blaze of glory" so many among us live for will cost them their world. Such warrior sentiments are truly noble, of that there is no doubt, but only as part of a program based on success. The sign of an immature man is that he wants to die for a cause; the sign of a mature man is that he wants to live for one. Before we waste one more year, one more dollar, one more man, we must consider all this. If it is truly a revolution you want, an Aryan homeland, a future for white children, then I ask you one question: why the hell aren't you in the Northwest Territory? If you know who Robert Jay Mathews was, and what his image means to all of us, and you still live outside our five states, he died for nothing, and that is all there is to it. Period. Ecce Novus Ordo Seclorum. Social Darwinism, National Socialism, and the Folkish Community by Wulf Grimwald With social darwinism as a basis of both National Socialism/Fascism and Satanism there are a considerable number of Satanists who identify with NS and Fascism. This is of course natural, not only by virtue of social darwinism, but because both ultimately spring from pagan origins. However, many of those now embracing a Fascist/Satanist synthesis with its mixture of darwinism, Nietzscheanism and elitism are apt to misunderstand the principles involved. Many of these new enthusiasts are youthful and are prone to projecting personal inadequacies onto their newfound philosophy. For them the common denominator of both Fascism and Satanism is more likely to be the shock value it causes among their parents and teachers, and these attitudes tend to become entrenched as adulthood arrives and social alienation remains. When someone shouts over-much about their hatred of humanity and feelings of 'superiority' and of belonging to an undefined 'aristocracy' the listener has a right to look in askance, and expect these self-declared aristocrats to display some traits of nobility and creativity—something that really does put them apart from the mass of humanity other than simply wearing a combination of swastikas and pentagrams and hailing both Satan and Hitler simultaneously. The more articulate of these have on occasion attempted to define their ideal of a ruling class as one being imbued with supposedly natural and desirable traits as "avarice and greed", as if the West does not already suffer in its death throes from entrenched coteries with such motives. In identifying these ideas with NS, our pseudo-Fascist Satanists are rendering Fascism a disservice by relegating it to the level of a tinpot Third World dictatorship, and are merely regurgitating the propaganda that has been churned out by the System against its greatest adversary. Whig Liberalism Is Not Fascism The very nature and purpose, indeed even the name of NS itself is not comprehended. What these pseuds are advocating is not NS nor sound socio-biological principles that have in recent years built upon the pioneering work of Darwin, but a misapplication of 'natural selection' that was used by 19th-century Whig liberalism to rationalize the sociopathic impact that a newly emergent merchant class was having upon their respective nations as a whole. Today the same doctrine is called "libertarianism" and is used as the ideological prop of plutocracy. Darwinian natural selection weeds out the congenitally diseased by denial of breeding opportunities and early death when subjected to the elements and to predators. However, once a stable gene pool is established, the individual organisms act as a SURVIVAL UNIT, i.e. a collectivity, which manifests as a flock, herd or in human terms, tribes and nations. All such collectivist notions are horrendous to libertarians and plutocrats who wish to be left unhindered by wider social responsibilities. Yet Nature decrees that its first Law is the perpetuation of the gene pool and that this is best achieved by social aggregates working for mutual protection. The survival chances of the individual organism are thereby enhanced. The individual organism will even sacrifice its own life in the service of the gene pool ("The common interest before self" is how NS put it in socio-political terms), which at a guess could be the biological origin of human qualities such as heroism. NS was an experiment in consciously applying the laws of Nature to human social and economic organization. By necessity, such a Natural Order is both National and Social. The synthesis of the national and the social was one of the great achievements of NS and Fascism generally, at a time when the conventional political dichotomy was still seeing the two as antithetical. Yet the nation is by its very definition and formation a social organism, a tribal unit; and the social factor can only be implemented nationally, or territorially, and not by some artificial internationalist class concept as per Marxism. Community and Leadership The Fascist conception of government is of course hierarchical, as are social units throughout nature. In the raw, primal state of nature, leaders are chosen through contests of strength in combat. Similarly, on a more elevated human plane, the Fascist hierarchy was chosen according to one's proven merit in a particular field. Experts were co-opted and representatives were elected according to occupation and profession by their peers to represent things they knew directly about, i.e. by personal daily experience. Thus a system of representation was achieved which was not only based on merit and experience but was a more direct means of representation. So far from being motivated by "avarice and greed" as our contemporary youthful pseuds would have it, the Fascist regimes destroyed the whole moral structure of bourgeois society that engendered such notions as a basis of behaviour. Indeed, the spirit of avarice was, rightly or wrongly, ascribed to an alien—Jewish— spirit, to be uprooted from the national community. In place of the materialistic spirit of both capitalism and Marxism the national communities formed by the Fascist regimes were imbued from top to bottom with a revived pagan ethos of heroism, nobility and self-sacrifice. This is what may be termed Ethical Socialism. Another great achievement of Fascism was to unify all productive and creative sections of the country into a national community, not on the basis of unreal concepts of universal equality, but on the basis of the organic state. Class war and divisiveness engendered by both Marxists and capitalists were eliminated by a transcendent unity. In fact many of the former socialist opponents of NS were —far from being thrown into concentration or shot—co-opted onto labor arbitration tribunals and found that the ideals of social justice they had dreamed of under a future unattainable Marxist utopia became solid reality under NS. The Nation was considered a living organism with each constituent part— each individual citizen— fulfilling a vital function for the whole, according to his/her innate ability. The value of labor was accorded equal respect to that of management. Indeed all youths were required to enter a period of Labor Service from whatever background they came, to imbue the future generations with a spirit of national solidarity. Workers in both Fascist Italy and NS Germany received hitherto unknown protection from unemployment, sickness and old age, a system of social welfare—albeit genuinely earned—that our darwinian pseudo-Fascist Satanists would find abhorrent in their detestation of their fellow countrymen. In their notions of a dog-eat-dog world they fail to realize that this is neither Fascism nor even a reflection of Nature, but a nihilistic laissare-faire capitalism. Strong, Healthy Citizens There was a realization by the Fascist leadership, previously little understood or admitted, that one cannot have a strong nation without having it comprised of strong, healthy citizens, and that cannot be achieved by allowing the unemployed and dispossessed mass of one's fellow-countrymen to rot and starve, as was done under the Whig Liberal regimes in England, for e.g., with their misapplied policy of social darwinism. If nothing else, such a liberal-capitalist attitude is simply a waste of human resources. Once the economic and financial structure was established to ensure the material well-being and security of each citizen, the individual was then free to be elevated culturally and educationally. "Strength through Joy" in Germany established leisure programs, and subsidized holiday cruises for workers, opened up the art galleries and the operas to the ordinary laborer, and provided for the physical fitness of the populace. Similar measures were previously enacted in Italy. Even an anti-Nazi such as American journalist William Shirer commented: "The young in the Third Reich were growing up to have strong and healthy bodies, faith in the future of their country and in themselves and a sense of fellowship and camaraderie that shattered all class and economic and social barriers. I thought of that later, in the May days of 1940, when along the road between Aachen and Brussels one saw the contrast between the German soldiers, bronzed and clean-cut from a youth spent in the sunshine on an adequate diet, and the first British war prisoners, with the hollow chests, round shoulders, pasty complexions and bad teeth—tragic examples of the youth that England had neglected so irresponsibly in the years between the wars." It was the Whig economic darwinism pursued by England that had brought its youth to such a weakened condition over several centuries, the very policy our contemporary pseudo-NS Satanists are calling "Fascism," while the real achievement of Fascism was to mobilize the people as a totality via a sound social and economic foundation. De-Proletarianizing the Proletariat And here we come to another remarkable achievement of the great Fascist adventure: the "masses" that our pseuds hate so passionately, ceased to be "masses." The proletariat was de-proletarianized. The proletariat in the context of this Western Civilization was, after all, a relatively new phenomenon (as was the bourgeoisie), arising from the dispossession of the artisans and peasants as a result of the Industrial Revolution and the rise of capitalism. The living concept of blood & soil was replaced by artificial concepts of money as the driving force of society. The squire and the noble were dispossessed of their power and the duties, along with the artisan and the peasant. In their place arose the bourgeois and the plutocrat, and the craftsman and farmer were forced from their mainly rural communities to swell the cities and become the "proletariat"— an uprooted, alienated mass bound to the new moneyed classes which now had the power but not the old responsibility of noblesse oblige. NS returned the folk to its organic state; "Blood & Soil" was the slogan, and it meant a folk once more rooted in its land. The ideal was the farmer-warrior; the peasant was held to be the sustainer of the nation. Land reforms were enacted based upon the ancient concept of "Odal," where family land holdings were sacrosanct and could not be subject to financial dispossession, to bankers' foreclosure. Such were the achievements of NS. Yet our young and uninformed Satanists who imagine themselves to be championing Fascism by reactionary ideas and phrases seem quite blind to it all—products of the System rather than rebels against it. Their apt place, if they cannot accept reality, is in the camp of that equally misinformed element—that other new phenomenon—the "Whig Satanist," in whose libertarianism and economic darwinism there is a common spirit. Now let the real Satanic/Fascist synthesis proceed. "For a movement which would restore the German worker to the German people it is therefore absolutely necessary to understand clearly that economic sacrifices must be considered light in such cases... The education of the masses along national lines can be carried out only indirectly, by improving their social conditions; for only by such a process can the economic conditions be created which enable everybody to share in the cultural life of the nation." —Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf The Spirit of the Thing By Max Frith A very good question has been asked of me numerous times; the topic, although related to extra-Movement activity, sheds much light on the mental state and present revolutionary capacity of our Movement. That question is, simply, how can I speak well of, and essentially supportive of, the I.R.A., when they have proclaimed some communist-like beliefs? The answer to this question is multi-layered. First of all, and most superficially, I have personally met many IRA supporters (direct supporters) and even IRA personnel. Never has one held even the slightest communist beliefs, or had the faintest affinity with Marxism. Their war is a war of Irish against British (and "Loyalists"; in our Movement we would consider this the equal of "race traitors"); a united Ireland vs. a militarily occupied Ireland. There is no "class war," it's not "workers against bourgeoisie." It is a racial war—Irish and their homeland against British and their money-motivated occupation. Secondly, there is a more subtle understanding of my position, one which bears upon our attitudes as alleged revolutionaries. There are necessarily two dimensions of an ideal—its essence, and its form. The essence is the underlying principle, the spirit of the thing. The form is that principle or spirit's outward manifestation; its activity in worldly affairs. In actual battle, the difference between essence and form can be equated with strategy and tactics. Strategy is the underlying elements and procedures which will be relied upon to attain superiority over a foe; tactics is the actualization of this strategy in the form of combat maneuvers and engagements. The essence of a thing is fundamental and all must be built upon it, including form. Essence endures, while form may, and often must, change continuously. Without the essence, a useful form cannot be actualized, or even truly comprehended. Thus the I.R.A.'s battle, in essence, is a battle of the Irish trying to unite their entire nation. This essence can manifest as guerrilla warfare, terrorism, or conventional engagement. Its outward form can also proclaim fascist or socialist tenets. If the essence is sound, the form, perfect or flawed, is a tool of that essence. If the form prevails, the essence prevails—because the essence is the creator and utilizer of the form it is controlling. Our Movement is opposite of the Irish one. We lack a sound understanding of the essence of the cause. Because we lack the true spiritual essence of racial and cultural destiny, our forms, though seemingly correct, are superficial. This is why I declared before that all our programs are two-dimensional, and that three-dimensionality kills them—lacking the essence of the thing in itself, all forms cannot be creations and/or tools of the essence, but of our reactive minds. Our forms are not actualizations of destiny, but rather what we think they should be. Hence our "National Socialism" is based almost solely on the Third Reich, our "Paganism" on the Vikings, our "racialism" on skin color. The true essence of these things--National Socialism, Paganism, and race--is little under-stood, and for this reason, our forms are old, outdated, and unable to evolve. So, even though the I.R.A. has made some mistakes in its political espousals, because the essence of its cause remains true—that is, a united Irish homeland—its forms, whatever they may be, will serve that cause. Because our Movement has disregarded a deep understanding of the essence of our cause, our forms, good or bad, have not and cannot truly serve it. Therefore, we must cease the needless concentration on forms, and disunity because of it, and instead learn the essence of what we stand for, what we want, what we really need. Then all forms, political or military, philosophical or spiritual, cultural or financial will serve our cause, and bring us the success the I.R.A. enjoys today. In Twilight of the Idols, Nietzsche said: "If we possess our "why" of life we can put up with almost any "how." Who Really Represents White Civilization? By Richard Scutari Mein Kampf offers some excellent insights into early White history. While Adolf Hitler readily accepts the evidence that the Aryans are the only founders of civilization, he also accepts the fact that the Nordic branch of Aryans had little to do with the foundation of civilization. This, Hitler ascribes to the conditions of the cold northern climate. Hitler came to this conclusion by using his truly astounding common sense. This conclusion was later confirmed by Carlton Coon in his Origin of the Races. One year after writing Makers of Civilization, Professor Waddell also confirmed this idea in the preface to his book Egyptian Civilization: Its Sumerian Origin and Real Chronology, wherein he apologizes for using the term "Nordic race" in his previous works as a synonym for "Aryan race" because they are only a late-specialized branch of one section of the Aryans. Further reading of Mein Kampf clearly shows that Hitler himself was not only aware of the problem of mixed (Mongolian) blood in Germany and Europe, but that his whole program was based upon the act of purification. He was not a geneticist but he did have the common sense to realize that once isolated the predominant bloodline would once again reassert itself, an amazing commonsense realization that was not backed by trained geneticists until the time of Carlton Coon. This fact was recognized by Waddell in The Makers of Civilization wherein he states on pp. 512-13: There is nowadays practically no such thing as absolute purity of racial stock, even amongst European nations, each individual being physically a complex of different race stocks with one or other race-strain usually predominating... Nature has arranged that this predominating race-strain can become so intensified under favorable circumstances as to revert almost to a relatively pure racial type, which carries with it, according to biologists, the mental qualities, aptitude or endowments of that type, which in this case of the Nordic type are Aryans. Professor John Baker In his book Race stated that the Germanic tribes of Tacitus' time would not recognize Adolf Hitler as one of their own. Hitler's insights on this question cannot be attributed to any scientific training, and this supports the notion that Hitler was the product on an early Italian-Germanic mixture. This explains his non-Nordic dark hair and features, and his genius. I would like to apologize to any who tout the fallacy of the "pure" Nordic in this day and age. I did not mean to step on your toes as everyone should have myths to believe in. It is not my fault Hitler's non-Nordic ancestors gave him dark hair. I point out this trait simply as an anthropological fact of Life. It is not my intention to cause disunity. I for one believe that unity is a must because either the descendants of White Europeans (whether from North, South, East or West Europe) stick together or we shall perish. Another great White man in this century had dark brown hair, and dark brown eyes as well. I am speaking of Order leader Robert Mathews, a man who fought and died for the unity of White Americans so that they would join together in the battle to secure a future for White children. Bob's requirements were simple and are the only ones that should be used to determine who is White: if a person looks White, acts White, and fights White, then that person is White! We Good Europeans By Max Frith Where is an American-invented prejudice which should be dragged out into the light where it will perish, like the fungal growth that it is. This prejudice is the over-used American preference to the qualities of Northern Europeans. I do not here denote the use of the word "Northern" as used to describe Scandinavian countries, but rather its misuse as a term to describe some form of "real" European. The strange thing about this pseudo- description is that in Europe, where men know what European means because they are Europeans, this prejudice doesn't exist. Ironically, it is in European mutt-dom, America, that some people find the nerve to decide which Europeans are "really" Europeans, or "more Aryan" than others. A brief look at recent history should demonstrate how unfair, ignorant, and disrespectful these categorizations are. Let us use World War II. As we all know, it was the German nations which primarily carried the Aryan torch in World War II. But, who responded to Hitler's call, who took up arms against the Aryan resurgence, and who straddled the fence? England and France, both Western or Northern European countries, fought against National Socialism, and therefore, against our race. Fascist Italy, on the other hand, fought with National Socialism; Spain remained embroiled in its own Fascist/Communist civil war. Both are Southern European countries. Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and the Ukraine, all Eastern European countries, fought for Hitler in the Russian campaign, and were later sold out to the Communists for doing so - by their Northern European counterparts. Some other Northern European countries which Americans often label as the "more Aryan" Europeans, Sweden, the Republic of Ireland, and Switzerland, all remained neutral, which, considering the implications of the battle fought, was equivalent to siding with the anti-National Socialist allies. Even Greece, that extremely Southern European country, was pro-Axis, and would have sided with Hitler had not British intelligence assassinated its National Socialist president, General Metaxas, in 1941. Even today, Spain has more Skinheads than America, Italy has a powerful Fascist party which includes Benito Mussolini's granddaughter, Alessandra, and Greece's Golden Dawn is among the most influential National Socialist entities in the world. In consideration of the very Aryan deeds of our Southern and Eastern European brethren, past and present, should not we, as Jew-controlled, world-policing, American cross-breeds, give respect where due? Let not the cultureless define culture, Per Angusta Ad Augusta. The Aryan Imperative Faustian Body / Thulean Soul (A Work in Progress...) I. Perspective Far out in exterior darkness where no breath stirs, no light shines, and no sound is heard, one can glance toward this spinning earth-ball. In the astral regions, illumination is of the soul, hence all is dark but this certain star, and only a part of it is aglow. From such a distance, one can obtain an utterly untrammeled view of what is transpiring on this earth-ball. Drawing somewhat closer, continents are visible; closer yet, population-streams. One focal point exists whence the light goes forth in all directions. It is the crooked peninsula of Europe. On this tiny pendant of the great land-mass of the earth-ball the greatest intensity of movement exists. One can see - for out here the soul and its emanations are visible - a concentration of ideas, energy, ambition, purpose, expansiveness, will-to-form. Hovering above Europe we can see what never before was so clearly visible - the presence of a purely spiritual organism. A close look reveals that the light stream is not flowing from the surface of Europe upward into the night sky, but downward from the hitherto invisible organism. This is a discovery of profound and revolutionary importance, which was only vouchsafed to us by reason of our complete detachment from terrestrial events in the outer void, where spirit is visible and matter invisible, only by reason of the light from the spirit. II. Wizard of Odds There are 200 billion stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. How could it be possible that ours is the only one harboring intelligent life? Actually, it goes far beyond that. Not only is our solar system the only source of intelligent life, it is probably the only source of any kind of life. Not only is our planet the only source of life in this galaxy, it is probably the only source of life in any galaxy. Hard as it may be to believe or accept, it is likely that our little world is the only speck of Living matter in the entire universe. Those who tend to reflect on these issues, especially those who believe that life must be a common phenomenon, derive long elaborate formulae to prove their case. They point out there are hundreds of billions of stars in the Milky Way; of these, some 200 million are similar to the sun; around these other suns orbit 10 million earth-like worlds; life must have evolved on millions of these worlds; intelligent tool-users must then have developed hundreds of thousands of times; so there must be thousands of civilizations capable of star travel. Carl Sagan, the leading proponent of this viewpoint, calculates that the Milky Way has been home to no fewer than a billion technical civilizations (Sagan, Cosmos, p. 301)! When this argument is extrapolated to the universe at large, the existence of ETs, at least somewhere, seems a virtual certainty. The odds of the Earth being the only living world in the universe are on the order of one in 1018. With such an overwhelming number of chances, a billion billion Earth-like worlds, Life must have sprung up innumerable times- mustn't it? This argument is reasonable enough on its face, but as soon as speculators leave the realm of astronomy they enter terraincognita, where dwells an inscrutable mystery. No one knows what the odds are that life will evolve given an earth-like planet around a sun-like star. Sagan rates the chances at one in three. A close examination of the issue indicates that he may be off in his estimate by billions and billions. The evolution of life is overwhelmingly improbable. The odds against life are so extreme that it is virtually impossible for it to occur twice in the same universe. That life ever evolved anywhere at all is a miracle of Biblical proportions. If it wasn't for our manifest presence, the creation of life could be dismissed as a wild fantasy. Generating animate matter through random chemistry is so unlikely as to be indistinguishable from impossible. Yet, here we are. Obviously, miracles do happen. But the question is: do they happen twice? Proponents of the view that life is commonplace suggest that it is a simple process arising out of organic chemistry. Harlow Shapely, for example, concludes that because organic molecules are common: "Life must exist in nearly all star systems that have planets" (Shapley, The View From a Distant Star: Man's Future in the Universe, p. 62). Carl Sagan writes of the origin of life: In those early [primordial] days, lightning andultraviolet light from the Sun were breaking apart thesimple hydrogen-rich molecules of the primitive atmosphere, the fragments spontaneously recombininginto more and more complex molecules. The productsof this early chemistry were dissolved in the oceans,forming a kind of organic soup of gradually increasingcomplexity, until one day, quite by accident, a molecule arose that was able to make crude copies of itself, using as building blocks other molecules in the soup. (Sagan, Cosmos, pp30-31; emphasis added) There is no disputing Dr. Sagan's scenario for the origin of life. The only question is the likelihood of the "accident" If it is a probable sort of accident, given the right circumstances, then Harlow Shapely may be right; if it is not so probable, then it has serious implications for our place in the Cosmos. Let's presume that all that is required for the evolution of life is the formation of a single self-replicating chain of DNA. (A great deal more than just this chemical accident is of course required to produce single celled organisms, and then a complete biosphere, and finally intelligent beings. But for the sake of argument, let's assume that a minimal chemical precondition is all that is required to set the chain of causality in motion that will eventually evolve you and me out of the mud.) As it turns out, the minimum chain length for self-replicating DNA is around 600 nucleotides. (Nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA, consisting of the base pairs of adenine-thymine or guanine-cytosine that form the rungs, and the phosphates which form the backbone of the ladder in the double helix.) Six hundred links is an exceedingly short DNA chain. Consider that a very simple virus contains 170,000 links, and a bacterium seven million; your own DNA chain is six billion links long. How likely is it that the primordial soup, given enough time, will cook up a strand of "Genesis DNA"? To calculate the odds of such an event occurring at random, we need to turn to 'information-theory'.' This is an arcane branch of statistics developed to aid in the design of computers and telecommunications networks. Essentially, information-theory reduces the nebulous concept of 'information' to exact mathematical quantities relating to message length and content. According to information-theory, a message with meaning can be interpreted as a level of probability. In other words: how likely is it that the message will be generated at random? This probability is dependent on the number of bits of information required to encode the message. The number of bits is then the exponent (base 2) of the number of random trials it would take to generate that message. In plain English, this means that generating even a relatively short message by random trial and error takes an enormous number of tries. Words, like those you're reading now, contain meaning- at least that's the intent. In theory, the same message content could be generated randomly (perhaps it would make more sense if it was). Using information-theory, we can find out what the odds are of a given message being generated by chance. Let's use a very simple message, one I'm sure we're all familiar with from our earliest attempts to decode these alphabetic hieroglyphics: "See Spot run." This minimal message contains just thirteen elements: ten letters, two spaces, and a punctuation mark. Written English requires only about 50 symbols to convey any message: 26 letters, 10 figures, 13 punctuation marks, and blank spaces. The first position in our message has one chance in fifty of being an "S." The odds of generating a particular message one symbol long are 50 to 1. The second position has the same odds, so the chances of a message two symbols long turning up as "Se", are 50 X 50, or 502 to one. Every time a symbol is added to the sequence, the odds against that sequence go up by one multiple: three symbols- 50 X 50 X 50, or 503 to one; four symbols- 504 to one, etc. It is very easy to calculate the odds of any message being generated at random: the number of possible symbols is the base, and the base number is raised to an exponential power equal to the number of symbols in the message. The odds of generating "See Spot run." at random are 5013 to 1. To create this rudimentary message by accident would require 610,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (six hundred billion trillion) trials. If a computer were programmed to generate a 13 character string at random, and created 10 million new strings every second, it would take the computer two billion years to come up with "See Spot run." Information theory shows why generating a 600 nucleotide chain through random chemistry is- to put it mildly- unlikely. The genetic alphabet is much shorter, containing only four symbols: A-G, G-A, C-T, T-C; but this doesn't help matters very much. The same rules of chance apply. The odds of generating a particular string of nucleotides 600 base pairs long are 4600, or 10360 to 1. If these are the odds against the bob-tail nag, you'd better bet on the bay. To generate a strand of "Genesis DNA" would take 10360 chemical reactions. That is a completely ridiculous number. Writing out such a number is an exercise in futility; it requires hundreds of zeroes. Describing it with words is just about as hopeless; a million billion trillion quadrillion quintillion sextillion septillion octillion nonillion decillion doesn't even touch it. The only way to describe it is as ten nonillion nonillion googol googol googol. You can't even talk about such numbers without sounding like your brain has been fused into molten goo. If you persist in thinking about them it certainly will be. Surely, there must be numbers of equal magnitude available to rescue us from such overwhelming odds. After all, DNA is just a large molecule. So we must be dealing with atomic numbers, and those are always mind boggling-right? When Life arose, the Earth's ocean's were, as Carl Sagan suggests, one giant bowl of primordial soup. The number of chemical reactions going on in that stew must have been incredible. Over billions of years, any possible combination of DNA could have been cooked up-couldn't it? Well, let's take a look; the bottom line is always in the numbers. The oceans of the early Earth contained, at most, 1044 carbon atoms. This sets the upper limit on the possible number of nucleic acid molecules at 1043. (Assuming every atom of carbon in the ocean was locked up in a nucleic acid molecule-an unlikely state of affairs.) The oceans could therefore contain no more than about 1042 nucleotide chains, with an average length of ten base pairs. If all these nucleotides interacted with each other 100 times per second for ten billion years, they would undergo 3 X 1061 reactions. This would still leave them woefully short of the sample needed to generate a strand of Genesis DNA. To get a self-replicating strand of DNA out of the global ocean, even if it was thick with a broth of nucleotides, would take ten billion googol googol googol years. Makes yours eyes spin counter-clockwise doesn't it? But there are billions of stars in the galaxy and billions of galaxies in the universe. Over time, the right combination would come up somewhere-wouldn't it? Assume every star in every galaxy in the entire universe has an Earth-like planet in orbit around it; and assume every one of those planets is endowed with a global ocean thick with organic gumbo. This would give us 40,000 billion billion oceanic cauldrons in which to brew up the elixir of life. Now we're getting somewhere-aren't we? In such a universe, where the conditions for the creation of life are absolutely ideal, it will still take a hundred quadrillion nonillion nonillion googol googol years for the magic strand to appear. Sheesh! Assuming some radically different form of life, independent of DNA, doesn't really help. By definition, life forms will always be complex arrangements of matter and/or energy. This complexity has to arise out of chaos. Therefore, some initial degree of order must first just happen. Whatever the form of life, its creation is dependent on the same sort of chance event that created our first strand of Genesis DNA. It doesn't matter what sort of coincidence is involved: the matching of base pairs, alignment of liquid crystals, or nesting of ammonia vortices; whatever the form of order, it will be subject to the same laws of probability. Consequently, any form of highly complex, self-replicating material is just as unlikely to occur as our form. Simply put, living is an unlikely state of affairs. When all of the fundamental constants underlying the bare existence of the universe are also taken into account, it becomes all too obvious that life is a sheer impossibility. How can a glop of mud like me possibly be walking around wondering why it exists? Gods R Us Our existence seems to defy the laws of nature. Our presence screams for an explanation. Could our existence be just a coincidence? According to the revealed wisdom of the divine bumper sticker: "Shit Happens." It is possible that life arose as the result of a spontaneous miracle against overwhelming odds. Possible, but unlikely. The universe is a probability field. The future is an infinite continuum of possibilities. When an actuality is condensed out of that continuum, the present moment is defined. Definite moments are what we call reality. So, reality is created one moment at a time by condensing an infinite number of possibilities into a single actuality. Through this process the future becomes the present. The process does not occur in the absence of a conscious observer. The universe- this plane of reality-exists only because we are here to observe it. If we did not exist there would be no defined present moments and only a continuum of nebulous possibilities would exist. The real world, the material world, would not exist if we were not here to observe and so define it. This is not a matter of mystical speculation. This is a case-hardened scientific fact, proven over and over again by laboratory experiments (Richard D. Meisner, "The Compatibility of the Universe to Complex Order: Paradigms and Speculations," JBIS, Vol. 39, p. 124). We create reality, which is why we are here, and why we are alone. We exist as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. Consciousness is the Rip Van Winkle of probability. Notwithstanding its improbability, conscious matter is bound to wake up in that one actuality where it can exist. This universe is finely balanced on a razor's edge of coincidence. If certain natural forces varied in their values by the tiniest fractions, not even stars could exist. In fact, in an infinite number of other possible universes, those values are different and stars don't exist. They exist here for the same reason we do, this is where they can exist. We are alone for the same reason. We awaken in a universe where we can exist; our awakening in turn defines the universe. Other intelligent life forms do not exist in this universe. This universe is ours by definition. It cannot accommodate another form of consciousness. A separate consciousness will define a separate universe, and we will be kept apart from it by the very nature of our reality. This, of course, has some pretty hairy implications. We are certainly alone in the universe, but we've been getting used to that idea. The other implication is that our individual selfconsciousness is really an illusion. Why, if consciousness defines reality, does your reality seem to coincide so closely with mine? Why isn't each of us off in his own private universe, like Zeyphod Beebelbrox [obscure Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference - ed.]? The answer is that your consciousness and mine are not really separate. They are only different facets of the same universal consciousness. All Life in this universe is at present confined to this single planet. All Life together forms a single organism, possessed of a single unifying consciousness. We are all the same being. Atlantean Destiny Whether or not we are truly alone in the universe is really immaterial. We can debate the issue as an academic exercise, but it won't change one overwhelming fact: As far as we know, we are alone. And until we find out otherwise, it behooves us to proceed as if we were the only intelligent species in the whole space/time continuum. This point of view should have a profound effect on our race. It is easy to gaze up at the night sky in wonder, and feel one's self to be an insignificant fly-speck. But it can be a little terrifying to look out on endless parsecs and realize that you are one of the most important things in it. It's enough to make your panic glasses go black [another obscure Hitchhiker's Guide reference - ed.]. Being a solo act requires us to carry some very heavy baggage. Our responsibility to the Cosmos is absolute. In a very real sense, we must carry the weight of the universe on our shoulders. We are not just an insignificant species of semi-intelligent apes, charged only with the welfare of ourselves, or even of our little planet. Rather, we are the sole source of consciousness in an otherwise dead Cosmos. It is all up to us. If we fail, Life, as a phenomenon in the universe, fails with us. Life never happened anywhere else before and it is unlikely to ever happen anywhere else again. If you believe in Life, if you believe in flowers and grass and trees, birds and whales and people; if you believe in children, then you must bear this Titanic burden. You must recognize yourself as one of the Olympians, one of but a tiny handful of the god-beings who inhabit this universe. For better or worse, we must accept the awesome implications of our place in the scheme of things-at the pinnacle of creation. It is our task to carry the torch of Promethean fire out into the frozen void, there to kindle the green flames of a billion billion living worlds. We few, we happy few, must decide the destiny of a universe. III. All the young people involved in these shootings have, just prior to these shootings, remarked that they felt they had changed and become superior to other people. The Littleton shooters reported they "felt like the had become God". The Pennsylvania shooter still maintains he "is the only real person in an unreal world." Similar feelings have been expressed in the other incidents. Regardless of how this has portrayed, I do not believe all of these young men to have been insane. I think they have discovered what Nietzche termed "the Will to Power" and have expressed it in the only manner power is understood in our society: through violence and murder. We live in a society of sheep. The mainstream follows the lead of the ruling class to perfection. The people are ignorant and poorly educated, and they believe what they are told. They are told that acting, looking and living in a certain manner will bring them happiness and success, and they act, look, and live in that way. They are told black is white, white is black, and that 2+2=5, and they believe. Most people do not rise above the level of the automaton or the drone. They are what Marilyn Manson has termed "mechanical animals." The problem is that people, at their core, are not mechanical animals. Man has free will, and has reason, and knows, at some level, that black isn't white, white isn't black, and 2+2 does not equal 5. Most people are too dull, ignorant, or disinterested to think about the implications of living in a society that is a lie. The knowledge that the reality one thinks exists does not exist, and that what is called 'good' is not truly good, is a very disturbing one. That knowledge causes stress. It causes cognitive dissonance. It can drive one insane. That means most people avoid it. Some people, however, exist on another level -- a higher level -- and cannot simply 'ignore' the fact that nothing they hear from the sources they are supposed to trust is true. They start to see the world as it is. At first, the think they may be insane. They fell isolated and depressed. They feel alone. They feel as if they are the only sane person in an insane world. They become confused, frustrated, angry. Some become goth. Some don't. Inevitably, these people find other people like them, who, like them, understand that the reality of the ruling class is false, and that the truth about the world, what is good, and how one should live, is vastly different from what is portrayed. Some of these people are people who have tried to live by the rules and failed. Others are people who see the world in a different way. In any case, people who recognize the false reality tend to join together, and tend to try to find their own notions of what is good. They are like Plato's man in the parable of the cave; they have seen the false shadows on the wall, and now are struggling, looking for the light. Unfortunately, they do not at once cast off all their understanding of the paradigm they are leaving behind. They stumble blindly around the cave, still thinking somewhat in the terms they thought before. They see their fellow man as deluded sheep, and they know their knowledge of the world has given them a certain power. Their quest for knowledge becomes a "Will to Power", as true knowledge of their universe makes them not only strong, but gives them the ability to control and manipulate those who do not understand the true principles which underlie and guide their behavior. Unfortunately, in our society, power is equated with violence. We live in a nation whose rulers are corrupt, decadent and evil. We live in a society where those with the power to control the citizenry take that power as license to abuse the weak. Every manifestation of power and authority in America today has, tied up in it, the abuse, exploitation and injury of those unable to defend themselves. It is not surprising then, that those who suddenly see themselves enlightened, and see their enlightenment as power, abuse that power. Rather than seeing themselves as part of a system, and rather than seeing the sheep that surround them as potential equals to be helped, they rather see the sheep that surround them as objects to abuse. In one sense, the man beginning to gain enlightenment is empowered. On the other hand, he is still abused by others for not seeing the world through their haze of ignorance. He has not learned to transcend and to teach, and, if he is young, he has no frame of reference through which to see power as something to use for the betterment, and not the detriment, of others. It is not surprising this enlightened being then uses his enlightenment for dark purposes. The Will to Power becomes the Will to Destroy the Weak. We see the full manifestation of this in school shootings. Students who are alienated and abused for not being able to accept the false reality begin to feel empowered, but are still abused. They recognize they don't have to be abused. They recognize themselves as better than other men; as closer to the recognition of their potential. They have no frame of reference by which they can try to use their powers for good, so they turn them to perverse purposes. They walk into their schools with a gun, and they slaughter the sheep. The media then rushes in to assure the general populace that this tear in the false reality isn't a tear at all. They pick a symbol of violence, relate the shooters to it, and that way try to sew up the rip created. I do not condemn the school shooters because I know they were not, in their eyes, doing wrong. I know that in the eyes of millions they were not doing wrong. I have been warning the ruling class against the evil they are brewing for eight years. People are listening to me now, but they are not doing it for the purpose of changing their system. They still trod brazenly done the path of tyranny, and analyze my thoughts not with the intent of implementing my suggestions, but in developing counter arguments to them. They do not realize they are doomed to failure. I have chosen to be an anarchist because I recognized, very early on, that anarchism is the only term which cannot be perverted by the ruling class into conformism. National socialism, fascism, communism -- all of these can be twisted, warped repackaged, and rephrased so that they do not challenge the power of the existing state. Anarchism is the only ideology that is the negation of the state, and therefore cannot be perverted to serve the purposes of the state. Anarchism cannot be demonized, because no one who understands it can object to it. Anarchism says all people should live together in peace and happiness without coercive or exploitative methods of organization. No one can object to that. So, the question is, when some realizes the Will to Power, if they shouldn't murder everyone around them, what should they do? First, I would say that some violence is inherent in the change from slave to master, and that it is likely that, when one recognizes the Will to Power, one will come into conflict with others and will have to fight. What I would suggest is that, during this initial phase, one try to limit the violence to a degree that it does not destroy one's life. The Will to Power is just the beginning of enlightenment; it is not the end. If one dies at the beginning, one cannot realize the ideal of the superior man. That proscription against destroying one's self early in the process applies to more than just violence. Many at this phase began to explore hedonism and many other ideals about relating to the world. There are many pleasures that can destroy one's mind. If one's mind is destroyed, one might as well be dead. The whole purpose of the Will to Power is to see the world as it is. Many pleasures distort the world and show it to one as it isn't. Don't fall into that trap. The Will to Power is a quest for knowledge, so one should pursue knowledge. Read the writings of those men consider wise. Compare the ideas of those considered wise against the world they intend to describe. In time, the truth becomes more and more apparent, and the knowledge of what to do becomes clearer and clearer. The Will to Power is a process that lasts a lifetime and is never complete, but it does lead one to transcend the common mass of sheep. The knowledge of truth and goodness does allow one to lead a better life than other men. As one achieves that knowledge, guidance as to what to do becomes less and less necessary; how to exercise the power that comes from knowing the guiding principles of man becomes more and more clear. At this point in my development, I see all men as creatures with free will, who are waiting to be awakened to their full potential, and who are being held back from that potential by a system designed by evil men to turn the masses into animals and to strip them of free will and reason. I believe men should help the sheep that are weaker than them, and fight the wolves who are stronger. There is a system that is diametrically opposed to the world view of the enlightened, and it is a system of lesser men, but inside all of those lesser men is the kernel of the superior man. Some of those lesser men wield material power, and must be dispossessed of that power for mankind as a whole to develop. Others wield very little of that material power, and need to be educated and enlightened without coercion. The anarchist ideal comes from the discovery that reality is false, that man is perfectible, and that the material powers which exist stand in the way of that development. Central to the principle of anarchism is the realization that mankind is God, with the power to create and destroy, to judge and to shape the world in their own image. What differentiates anarchism from fascism is the knowledge that all men are Gods, that we live in a system of Gods, and that those who come to truth before other men should educate, and not oppress, those who stagger behind. Practical Rites of Passage by Max Frith A Final Statement on the White Order of Thule About five years ago I wrote the opening statement for the first issue of Crossing The Abyss. The Order has traveled a prosperous but difficult road since that time, always growing and expanding, but also always finding itself with more ideas and materials than manpower. Long ago people were assigned the task of doing academic research in order to accurately trace the teachings of the true Western Tradition of the Mysteries throughout the history of Europe -absent all grandiose but unsubstantiated claims-to see if a trail could be found which would actually lead the White Order of Thule to some of this material. The task was arduous and mostly fruitless, leading to dead end after dead end, but when pay dirt was finally struck, the find proved to be beyond our expectations. But this meant hundreds of pages of material, some from as early as 1614, some quite scrambled and in disorder. Needless to say, the new task of re-writing all this material in modern English and including modern science was even greater than the original task of finding it. And hundreds of references had to be studied and cross-referenced in order to ensure that all attributions-colors, astrological, alchemical, musical, etc.-woven throughout these ancient lessons were original, accurate, and orderly. As this immense project unfolded-all-in-all including about 10,000 pages of material-yet more material became available, and as we formatted this in the Order's present Courses and Manual, we were amazed at the blessing of the discovery, but also overwhelmed with the seemingly endless work to be done. I'm the one always calling for less fantasy and more work, so I'm not complaining, but rather leading up to an apology. Having set out to find what we expected could not be found-most records indicating it did not survive WWII-and having thereafter found far more than we had hoped, we found ourselves in over our heads. Had we known at the advent of this zine what we would discover within a couple months-after years of searching-we would have taken a more responsible, practical, and professional course. This would, of course, have included not starting a zine until our inner work was complete. That work is only now near completion. Having started Crossing The Abyss (then simply titled, The Abyss), and having received such an immediate and powerful response, it was unthinkable for us to abort it, especially with many of the men we admire most around the world showing so much enthusiasm for this new "attitude" in America. But in trying to manage the immensity of our inner work while producing a good outer expression, we have fallen short-timewise-in both areas. Our intentions were good, but naﶥ. For this we owe our members and our general readers an apology. We apologize that we have put out so few issues in 5 years, and that some of our members have had to wait between courses while material was formatted. We aimed for the stars, and in doing so we hope we fell short at the mountaintop-or at least the hilltop. As I write this, that "hilltop" we landed on, despite our problems, has been leveled by close and trusted friends. Anyone who dealt in any way with our Order HQ before the use of the Clinton and Deer Park addresses knows that station was staffed by a lazy, incompetent, and utterly useless individual. That person has resigned from the Order, but the damage is done. The rest of us sensed problems, but were repeatedly assured that despite temporary delays, things were generally in order. When we finally grew weary of these claims, the files were confiscated and that station permanently dissolved - but that was the beginning, not the end, of our problems. We were horrified to discover that due to the pathetic conduct of one trusted person, our members had been deprived of their monthly lessons, our mail had been ignored, merchandise orders had gone unfilled, and the Order's funds, which should have been extensive, were totally squandered. After all my criticizing of Movement fools, and ridiculing of Movement assholes, I now find that I must honor my own standards and turn this hard but sincere focus upon myself. It was I who put full trust in this person, urged others to do so, and assured everyone that things would come together in time. In this I permitted my personal brotherly love for this person to blind me to what was ultimately one of the lowest lows Movement conduct has ever reached. For this I apologize, to those let down by the events at the Richmond, VA, WOT HQ, to the members whom I personally inspired to join the Order, to the Movement, which accepted far more of my outward -focused criticism than I expected, and to this noble Cause for which I would readily lay down my life. I make no excuses - I erred, and I should have known better - but I accept full responsibility and offer my sincere apology. I said that "the damage is done" because WOT has been scuttled, and due to many factors, we will adopt Nietzsche's admonition of "that which is falling should also be pushed." Henceforth we are precluded as an Order from in any manner distributing the Ageless Wisdom courses we searched so long for. These ancient materials were offered to us under strict stipulations, and so enthralled did we become under their intense spell that we permitted the practical aspects of the Great Work to fall by the wayside. One of the strictest promises made upon receipt of this material was that it would never be used falsely -- either for ignorant racism or abstract New Age-ism. We succeeded in the former, but paying too little attention to the Richmond, VA HQ, we faltered in the latter. From this moment henceforth, The White Order of Thule is closed. We will continue with our studies in private, and some day may get a new chance to try to alter the Destiny of the Cause with the only true source of the Western Occult Tradition we have come across, but presently, WOT exists no more. Our brotherhood remains - no external circumstances can touch the inner dynamics of our personal, cultural, and spiritual relationships - but no zine, shall come forth again. Ex-members of WOT, and some of the ex-staff of the Crossing The Abyss magazine now regularly contribute to the Fenris Wolf magazine, an independent project, affiliated with the Pagan Liberation League, which is not an organization, but an information network of Pagan organizations and kindreds, hearths, and covens designed for the exchange of information and ideas, to help coordinate interaction between different Pagan groups and traditions, and most importantly, to help disseminate the Ageless Wisdom of our People in order to turn our collective spiritual knowledge into a collective spiritual experience. We of the White Order of Thule have come to the conclusion, after our very bitter and disillusioning experiences heretofore mentioned, that ideas, not organizations are central at this point. Current subscribers of Crossing The Abyss will have their subscriptions continued into the Fenris Wolf magazine, which has over the years evolved from a rather simplistic Odinic magazine into a journal promoting the Thulean ideals and a more advanced Pan-Aryan Paganism and Third Way ethos. Some of the ex-staff of CTA will now contribute their efforts and the energy once invested in CTA into Fenris Wolf magazine, and several other non-organizational projects and will continue to ascend the heights. We will always remain Thuleans, despite the disbanding of our organization, and we have now realized that we do not need a club, organization or any membership list, when we remain Thuleans in soul, eternally, and will always be a family, despite the breakup of WOT. Thuleans are never content, we aspire anew; despite how uncomfortable it makes the "Movement" cattle feel! And so we must lay the White Order of Thule to rest, as it has outlived it's necessity. In the last issue of CTA there was an article for which I must also apologize. It was called The Enemy, and its central focus goes against the principles upon which this Order and this zine were founded and continue to operate. We consider the use of such terms as "nigger," "kike," and "ZOG"-or even complaints about them-to be base, not noble, and problem-oriented, while WOT is thoroughly solution-oriented. This declaration should in no way reflect upon the author of this article-each man conducts his activism according to his ability and calling-but this article should never have made it into the pages of CTA, and I apologize because it did due to an error on my part. With our computer technology at HQ we can simply scan typed material and re-format it, which demands extra care in proofreading and editing. Michael L. was then the editor of CTA, but I assisted his work, and the printing of this article-which essentially goes against all we represent-was due to my inattention, and once again, I am sorry. In closing, I'd like to partially set forth-as objectively as possible-a list of what our Work in the Movement stood for, what it really meant, in order to clear up much confusion among friends, associates, and most insidiously, the Mass Media - which has for some reason developed a pathological fixation on our Fraternity, and utilized shameless and childish misrepresentations, misinterpretations, distortions, and of course, outright lies, in an unnecessary and futile smear campaign. This includes attacks on one of our oldest members, who has been falsely accused of a pagan-motivated murder by the Federal government. The following should clarify matters, though nothing said herein is new - if WOT has been two things, it is sincere and consistent. But this should make it also clear that no one adhering to our creed would stoop to the ignorant behavior the Mass Media now wishes to stereotypically attribute - based on no actual facts -- to one of our members and the Order in general. Thank you for bearing with us, and our troubles, and keep striving. Five seconds after you finish reading the following, this Order will self-destruct. Gods Bless. What WOT Is-and What WOT is Not 1. WOT is Third Way-neither "left" nor "right." WOT is not among the many pseudo-Third Way adherents, who merely say they reject extremes, while spontaneously espousing traditional leftist or rightist ideals. For instance, "class war" concepts are Marxist, not Third Way; to say "What niggers or race traitors do isn't our business" is an oxymoron, for "nigger" and "race traitor" is a judgment and denotes "paying attention." 2. WOT promotes Third Way political ideas as essentially apolitical. The System is and always will be Republican and Democratic, conservative, and liberal, right and left, and therefore Third Way ideology remains without the political system. WOT does not endorse "mass organization" strategies of any sort, old or new, Third Way or otherwise. We urge men and women to put inner (spiritual) and folkish (communal) realities first-not assign leadership structures with membership lists and the like. WOT has no leaders and has no structure-we are bound by devotion to our Gods and love for our Folk. 3. WOT is solution-oriented. We never talk about problems unless our conclusion is a proposed solution. WOT is not a neo-Nazi reporting agency. We don't report on problems or rehash old issues. To kill Morris Dees is manly; to ignore Morris Dees is manly; to complain about Morris Dees for 15 years is ignoble cowardice. A true man either ignores a problem or destroys it-he doesn't whine about it like a little girl. 4. WOT believes in unity, but a spiritual and communal unity, not an organizational or commercial unity. WOT rejects all make-believe concepts of "leaderless resistance" or "guerrilla cells," that is, excuses for not unifying. We cannot accept, as our less dedicated armchair generals have, the idea that the entirety of military history is the "exception which proves the rule" regarding this matter. No such thing as "leaderless resistance" has ever existed-never mind succeeded-and no such thing ever will exist. And every guerrilla war in history was fought from a unified platform and at least a semi-unified movement. Cells operate on their own, but they do not simply fight a chaotic war with the hope of some coincidental symbiotic result. In such a war-a fantasy with no example in 6000 years of history-cells could not even be sure they were not attacking each other. To be divided is to be conquered, and we are presently both. 5. WOT accepts Psycho-spirituality as a science, meant to empower any form of pagan religion. WOT does not propose that it possesses any new religion. Psycho-spirituality is meant, amidst a thoroughly scientific era, to add depth to existing pagan religions, and to lead others to pagan religions. The Thulean pantheon is no different from the Asatr?theon in its outward form-"What's in a name? A rose by any other name smells as sweet." 6. WOT's program is mystical, and in following with all of Aryan history, is meant for the highest minded and most instinctual men and women at the core of every pagan people. WOT's program is not religiously doctrinal or new, or invented by men. The Order is pagan, but it is made up of pagans from all walks of life: Odinists, Gnostics, Astrologers, Thelemites, Theodists, Theosophists, Wiccans, Satanists, Romuvans, Dievturibans, Alchemists, and so on. Mysticism always has been, and with WOT remains, the esoteric center of all Aryan religious life. 7. WOT is revolutionary, and dedicated to achieving Aryan Imperium by any means necessary. WOT is not a "race war" fantasizer or make-believe revolution predictor. Our government and the people hate us, and anyone too cowardly to recognize and accept that challenge is not welcome in our fraternity. We are strong and the brainwashed masses are weak, and as with all evolutionary processes, the fit shall prevail. And as with all end-times in cyclical history, we will seek to survive and seize the day as nature dictates, not based on fictional novels or N.R.A. slogans. When Big Brother comes for people's guns, despite all the declarations on caps, t-shirts, and bumper stickers, the people will do one thing and one thing only: give them up. And if Big Brother wanted to come for us right now, "the people" would give us up also. Because the pseudo-revolutionary theories of the Movement have been so laughable, Big Brother is laughing at us also. But the spiritual power that gave birth to the Western Culture, our enemies comprehend not, and that is the power we seek to create at this time. 8. WOT endorses, promotes, and nurtures diversity in the Movement. WOT does not accept the open-ended diversity some now propose, which is akin to the degeneration of society. There will always be basic principles even in the most diverse endeavor-if it is healthy. Rise Starting in the mid-1990's merely as a branch of the older religious organization Black Order of Pan-Europa, the White Order of Thule split of from the former in a schism caused by ideological reasons and feelings of the Americans that the then-grand master of the New-Zealand based Black Order of Pan-Europa displayed ignorance of the realities inherent in the USA. It adopted a new name in September 1996 to distinguish itself from the old organization, but also to express through the name a shift in spiritual perspective and values. [2] [edit] Decline White Order of Thule ceased to function in the late 1990's Organization The administration of programs was vested in a core of members operating through order headquarters, and delegated to regional contact stations which form an advisory council. The basic unit was the lodge. The rules said at least three members may form a lodge which would operate as a local manifestation of the Will of the Order.[3] Membership Membership of the order, limited to individuals of European descent over 18 years of age, was divided into three degrees. Individuals seeking to join were required to send a 500 word autobiography including their views on culture, spirituality, history and politics. In the lower sections of the circle there are the words Pan and Nihil, which are the All and Nothing, Being and NonBeing, onopposite sides. It relates to the cover illustration which is a collage done by Joseph Kerrick showing the One Soul (called Pantheos) standing alone in the Void of NonBeing. The word at the bottom of the sigil is Thule. At the top, divided in two parts by the upward point of the pentagram, is the name Damarasha.[5] Philosophy and practice The Valknut as Psychogenesis. Outdoor mass ritual In between publishing the first two issues of Crossing the Abyss, on the Autumnal Equinox in 1996, Joseph Kerrick went with two fellow members and did a ritual at the top of Mount Tamalpais, which is the highest peak in Marin County, California, described as an ultra-liberal New Age area where Kerrick lived. The peak is visible from any elevated spot throughout the whole San Francisco Bay Area. According to Kerrick any of the leftist-liberalist multiculturalists will tell you that it was also a sacred power spot for the Indians. The ritual, which included a series of adjurations with long sonorous chants, was described by Kerrick as to have fallen into place in a specially powerful way, being one of his best rituals ever at the time.[6] Study material Aside from the Degrees of Membership and the Membership Manual the order suggested for members to study works such as Hitler's Mein Kampf, Yockey's Imperium, Nietzsche's Beyond Good And Evil, Redbeard's Might Is Right, Mason's Siege and Evola's Revolt Against The Modern World.[7] Publications The White Order of Thule irregularly published a zine titled Crossing the Abyss which after the quitting of the order evolved into another zine titled Fenris Wolf.
